Highland Highlights - May 2026
Welcome to the Highland Highlights!
In the "Good News" section, I am excited to feature a few stories about how our schools and the broader Highland community have worked together to give our students fantastic opportunities and experiences this past month. Thank you to everyone involved - we are very #HighlandProud!
HHS Seniors Learn about Local Government
Mr. Spottiswood, an HHS Social Studies teacher, set up a day for two of our Highland Town Council Members, Mr. Alex Robertson and Mr. Philip Scheeringa, to visit our seniors and answer any questions they had about our local government. They asked about funding, roads, businesses, and more. It was super interesting!
Fun with the Highland Police and Fire Departments!
Celebrating Patriotism
Matthew L., a Warren kindergartener, was walking the halls when the Pledge of Allegiance started. He immediately stopped what he was doing, found the nearest flag, and recited the pledge. Word reached Kindergarten Aide Mrs. Winston, a Highland VFW member, and she shared it with the VFW Commander. He then awarded Matthew with a gold coin to celebrate his patriotism and respect. Well done, Matthew!

Dollars for Scholars
Twenty-three seniors at Highland High School were awarded scholarships through Highland Dollars for Scholars on Wednesday, April 29! These students received a combined total of over $90,000 in scholarships to go toward their future education. Thank you to all of the generous donors for supporting our students! We are very proud of all these seniors and wish them the best of luck as they continue their education.
Here's a roundup of some of our favorite social media posts from the last month, just in case you missed it!
