SHS COLLEGE CORNER - ISSUE 03 / NOVEMBER 2025

This month’s SHS College Corner highlights important steps for college-bound students. The November Checklist includes completing the FAFSA, working on college applications and requesting transcripts, writing essays, and starting to apply for scholarships. Upcoming events include:

  • University of Utah: Discover Day, November 8
  • University of Utah: Engineering Day, November 9
  • Utah State College Access Day, November 15 @ USU Campus, Logan
  • Southern Utah University: Red Riot, November 15–16
  • University of Utah: Campus Tour, November 18
  • Utah State University: Aggie Campus Pride, November 18
  • Utah State University: Aggie Preview Day, November 22

For college prep, remember that many colleges and scholarships require letters of recommendation from teachers or other adults who can speak to a student’s character and accomplishments. Ask as early as possible, be considerate of your teachers’ time, and provide them with information about the recommendation and the deadline. When requesting a letter, let the teacher know what you hope the letter will highlight and follow up with a thank you after it’s completed. To request transcripts, visit the counseling office or use SchooLinks; current students can send transcripts to colleges via their SchooLinks account. For more information, visit shs.nebo.edu, call 801-489-2817, or follow @SHS_Counseling.
