Open Enrollment Is Over… Now It’s Time to Get the Most Out of Your Benefits!
Open Enrollment may be over, but your benefits journey is just getting started! Now that you’ve selected your medical, dental, and vision plans, it’s a great time to learn more about everything that comes with your coverage. Your insurance offers more than just doctor visits and prescriptions... there are additional programs and resources designed to help you save money, access care, and make managing your health easier.
Over the next several months, we’ll be highlighting one benefit or program at a time, giving you the information you need to understand what it is, how it works, how to access it, and how it can benefit you and your family.
We’ll be taking a closer look at SmartCare, which includes SmartShopper, MDLIVE, Quest Diagnostic, Carrum Health, SimpleTherapy, and other resources available through your benefits. Each month, we’ll break down a different program in an easy-to-understand way, including tips for getting started and examples of how you can actually use it.
Think of this as your Benefits 101 series! Even if you’ve been enrolled in the same plan for years, you may be surprised by how many valuable resources are already included in your coverage.
Keep an eye out each month as we uncover another benefit and show you how to make the most of the benefits you already have!

Important Updates to CVT Pharmacy Benefits
An important update from CVT:
As part of CVT's ongoing review of our health plan benefit programs, several changes will take effect January 1, 2027. These updates reflect our continued focus on managing healthcare costs responsibly while providing comprehensive benefits and resources to CVT members.
Please review the changes below. Changes may not apply to all members.
GLP-1 WEIGHT LOSS MEDICATIONS
Effective January 1, 2027, GLP-1 medications prescribed specifically for weight loss will no longer be covered under CVT’s pharmacy benefit. This change reflects CVT’s ongoing review of its pharmacy benefits and the rapidly changing options available for accessing these medications.
PPO, EPO, Anthem HMO, or Blue Shield of CA HMO Plans
Non-Medicare members who wish to continue using a GLP-1 medication for weight loss may be able to access lower-cost options directly through programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers.
Silverscript Pharmacy Plans A, B, C, and D
Medicare members may have the option to access these medications directly through Medicare's Bridge program.
ACCORDANTCARE PROGRAM & TRANSFORM DIABETES CARE ENDING
Effective January 1, 2027, CVT's partnership with AccordantCare and Transform Diabetes Care will end. Members currently receiving support through either of these programs can find ongoing clinical support and information to help guide their care directly through their health.

PRUDENTRX SPECIALTY MEDICATION COPAY ASSISTANCE
Effective January 1, 2027, CVT will increase the specialty medication coinsurance to 50%. There will be no cost to members because of this change, as member cost share will continue to be reduced to a $0 copay (Health Savings Account qualified plans are reduced to $0 after deductible) once enrolled in the PrudentRx program. The adjustment allows CVT to make greater use of copay assistance dollars available from pharmaceutical manufacturers, helping reduce the overall cost of specialty medications to the plan.
For any questions regarding these changes, please contact your CVT Account Manager or Member Services Representative at (800) 288-9870.
