PRAYER BEFORE THE GAME๐
God,
Please be with me and my teammates
as we prepare for our game.
Help us to do our best
and to remember the skill we have practiced.
Help us to work together to achieve our goal,
whether we win or lose.
God, be with our opponents also.
They too have worked hard.
Help us to remember to be good teammates
and competitors and keep us safe as we play.
AMEN.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL ๐
Dear Bruin Family,
Spirits were high this week at St. Dorothy as we celebrated Spirit Week! Students showed off their creativity with fun and imaginative takes on each day's special theme, and our school pride was on full display during Thursday's spirit rally. A special thank you to our staff, Student Council, and especially to our parents for helping put together outfits and enthusiastically embracing the fun.
We are also excited to share that our Fun Run campaign continues to gain momentum. Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our school community, we are making excellent progress toward our $60,000 fundraising goal. Every contribution brings us one step closer, and we are grateful for the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our students, families, and supporters.
As we look ahead, we have several important events coming up. Fall Picture Day is just around the corner, and we look forward to capturing another year of memories for our students. In addition, progress reports will be sent home soon, providing an opportunity for families and teachers to review each student's academic progress. These reports help us celebrate successes, identify areas for growth, and ensure that any necessary supports are put in place so every student can continue to thrive. Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support as we work together to help our students succeed.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

HANDBOOK UPDATE - STUDENT LUNCHES ๐๐ฅ๐
The handbook has been amended with the following changes regarding our Lunch Program. This can be found on pages 15 and 16 of the handbook.
LUNCH PROGRAM
Students are expected to arrive at school each day with a fully prepared lunch. Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that all food items, beverages, utensils, napkins, condiments, and any other materials necessary for the student to eat their lunch are included before the student arrives at school.
The school is not responsible for providing forgotten lunch items, including but not limited to forks, spoons, knives, straws, napkins, condiments, seasonings, cups, plates, or other supplies needed to consume a student's meal. While such items may occasionally be available, families should not rely on the school to provide them, and their availability cannot be guaranteed on any given day.
To promote student responsibility and minimize disruptions to the instructional day, students should check that they have all necessary lunch items before leaving home each morning. Parents are encouraged to pack lunches that students can independently open, prepare, and consume during the lunch period.

CHILD SAFETY ๐จ
Did You Know?
September 26-27 || Mega events and trafficking prevention
While there is mixed research surrounding major international events like the World Cup and Olympics and an increase in human trafficking, these events can attract predators and those who seek to harm children and the vulnerable. Preparation for these massive events can serve as an opportunity to spotlight trafficking and raise awareness for prevention and protection of the vulnerable. Hotlines and response programs often increase the number of reported crimes and victim disclosures, which helps law enforcement target known trafficking areas or groups. For more information, read the VIRTUSยฎ article โHow Major Events Highlight the Need to Protect Childrenโ at lacatholics.org/did-you-know.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
