Students of the Month Students of the Month

Ms. Vanmeter says "Cierra has been a leader in her reading group and she has been a thinker, reflective, and inquirer in her analysis of her novel."

Ms Vanmeter says "Zenaida is pursuing her Extended Essay with vigor. She has shown tenacity and flexibility throughout the process."

JyNai says "I’d like to nominate Inara H because she has really grown when it comes to fully understanding assignments. Especially in math, when she doesn’t understand something or is confused she makes sure to get extra help or ask questions. Most of the time the questions she ask benefit the whole class. And that is why I would like to nominate Inara H."

Savannah J says "I want to nominate Noble because she is a very hard working student in all her classes whether she wants to do the work or not. She stays on top of her classes and always has good grades on her report card. "

Cierra B.

"Math is my favorite subject because it always challenges me to a new extent, and it’s always a fun moment once I realize I finally understand what I’m being taught. I want to go to John Hopkins University and I would like to become a veterinarian. I love animals and I would love to be surrounded by them all day."

Mr. Miller AP US Government

Savannah says "I want to nominate him because he is a very good teacher. The way he teaches helps me understand what the topic is, and he is a fun teacher. Noble says "Because he makes things easy to understand and not complicate with difficult instructions."

Ms. L. Williams says "The students have been raving about the after school study sessions Mr. Miller provides to review vocabulary and topics on the AP Government test. They enjoy the practice and feel prepared for that exam. Occasional pizza doesn't hurt. :-)"

CAS- Grades 11 and 12 CAS- Grades 11 and 12

All students who are working towards the IB Diploma must complete CAS. They work on reflection in the areas of Creativity, Activity, and Service over 18 months and must also complete one project. Yeily completed her project in October and was able to build dog houses with her family to raise over $450 for BARCS animal shelters.

One way to support your IB DP grade 11 and 12 student is to ask them what they did this week for CAS? Help them to reflect on what they are doing that is creative like cooking or art, active like sports or exercise, and service related like donating items.
