The Panther Press

“The Elmwood Village Charter Schools will provide a stimulating and engaging learning environment that recognizes student capability, fosters their connectedness to their immediate and broader communities, and offers them ways to contribute to school life. EVCS believes that all students can and will learn at high levels when provided with the right learning conditions.”

We put students first. We act with urgency. We seek to be better. We work as a team.

From our family to yours, we hope you enjoy the winter break.

May the week be filled with peace, joy, love, laughter, and relaxation.

See you in 2024!

We want to take a moment to thank you for being a part of our EVCS community and allowing your student to grow with us. We would like to share the joy of EVCS to more members of our community and you can play a big part in that effort. Please take a moment to write a parent review of the things you’re seeing at your EVCS campus. As you’ll see, we’re lacking in parent representation online and would love to have the voices of our parents be the first thing that our visitors see. If you have the time, please take the time. It would make a world of difference.

Click the link for your child's campus. On the right, you will see the name of our school. Scroll down and hit the "write a review" tab and follow the prompts.

Brittany Mez was an employee at EVCS and served as our Operations Manager. Sadly, Brittany lost her battle with Stage 4 melanoma in February 2023. She was just 36.

Her friends at Unapologetic Coffee have created this Limited Edition Bean in honor of Brittany, with net proceeds being donated to EVCS.

They write: "Brittany dedicated her life to living! She was a unicorn who taught everyone she met that there is no great time to live your life, just go out and thrive. With the help of Brittany's husband Mark, and her community friends who still run Locus Shop, we have decided to donate the net proceeds of this bag to Elmwood Village Charter School, where Brittany served as an educator."

This bag will only available exclusively online and at Locus Shop, located at 1840 Clinton St, Buffalo, NY 14206

We thank Brittany for her dedication to EVCS and would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to her family and friends for including us in her legacy.

Please have your child take a moment to check out our Lost and Found located in the main hallway of the first floor. Many of these items have been here since last year and we do not have the capacity to house these items any longer.

2024-25 School Year Information

Stay tuned for our Open House dates and information about school tours.

Dismissal:

Office pickup: Starting on 12/1 we will NOT allow any dismissal from the main office after 2:30 P.M. If you attempt to retrieve a student you will be directed to enter the dismissal line.

Pickup: All children who are dismissed to a guardian must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. Our dismissal begins at 3:05 p.m.

School Dismissal Manager All families must use this tool daily. Not entering the proper dismissal directions causes severe risk for your child. Without proper dismissal directions, it causes the possibility that your child will be dismissed incorrectly.

Bus loop: Do not park in this area after 2:00 p.m. This is used for our entire dismissal process. When a car is parked in this area it causes major safety issues.

Thank you for your cooperation!

The EVCS Hertel winter sports kicked off in a busy first full week of games. Our EVCS Lady Panthers split their first 4 games to start the season at 2-2. Leading scorer Taylor Richards is leading the way and improving on her stellar season from last year. Aniya Marks and Laniyah Johnson are also key contributors for the Lady Panthers. Coach Downs and Coach Shaefer continue to push the girls as they are learning and growing by each game.

Our EVCS Boys Basketball have continued to show great improvements from last year as they start the season 4-0. Jerimiah Arnold leads the team in scoring with nearly 15 points per game. Andrew Rose and Jaylen Earl have also added nearly 10 points per game and Glenn Jeffries has been a great defensive present under the hoop. Coach Welch and Coach Ross are excited to see the potential as the year continues.

We are also extremely excited as our Lady Panthers Cheer team made their season debut Thursday. The team and the packed crowd really benefited from the enthusiasm and excitement given off during the game.

Come out and cheer on our student athletes as we conclude on a busy final week before break.

Hello EVCS families,

Hope all is well. We would love to have our families support our school by volunteering to help during our lunch periods. This will include helping students open food containers, reminding students to clean their area, and allowing for an extra set of eyes to help students with any needs. Please view the information in the link and complete the form, if interested. We will follow-up with families after winter break.

Thank you,

Joseph Ciesielski, Principal

With the cold weather quickly approaching, it is important that children dress properly for the elements. Jackets, hats, gloves/mittens, and boots should be brought to school daily, as children have recess outside most days. Some of our field trips are outdoors as well and we want to be sure children are protected so they are able to enjoy the fresh air safely and comfortably.

A few reminders regarding school cancellations due to weather:

* Families will be notified through a SwiftReach text alert so please make sure that our main offices have the most up-to-date phone information.

* Contact Meriah Millner (Days Park) at (716) 886-4581 or NaShomi Shaffer (Hertel) at (716) 424-0555 to update contact information.

* Administration will notify all of the major news outlets and closings will be announced on the local TV channel (2, 4, and 7) tickers.
