π¬ A Note from Dr. Kari Roan
Mustang Families & Students:
We had a wonderful time last week celebrating Richland HS's Forthcoming and fun events on our campus:
- Dress Up Days
- Inaugural Volleyball πand Football πgames | Pics!
- Mega Lunch | Pics!
- OUR FIRST EVER PEP RALLY | Reel!
As we continue through this quarter of learning, please continue to take each Sunday to spend a few moments engaging with your student via this this weekly agenda (or any other tool that you find useful). You can download a copy and work with your student to start a new one each week.
One other thing to ask your students about is our Minga platform. All secondary schools across our district are using this tool to manage time spent out of class, recognize actions that lean into our values, and function as an additional means of communicating with families when students need redirection. The behaviors we recognize are based off of our RIDE beliefs; we spent time learning about these during our first Advisory classes, and each time a student goes against these beliefs, our staff uses the chart linked above and below as a means of coaching students towards the behaviors we value. Families might benefit from sitting with their students as they log into the Minga platform to see what praise or redirections they might have earned over the past week.
Along these same lines, our students are wanting to experience a bit more freedom at lunch, so please spend some time visiting with them about lunch expectations in the RIDE document so that we can move into that next level of freedom during lunches!
As we look towards this week, please encourage your students to dress up for Project Smile Week, a time sponsored by Hope Squad focusing on mental health and the value that each life brings to our world. You can see dress up themes below!
We are looking forward to another great week together!
Let's RIDE!
