Language Arts
๐๐ผ Greetings All,
๐ In Language Arts students are wrapping up their work determining themes in "The Medicine Bag." We will be next examining point of view with the text "from La Princesa Mileidy Dominguez" by Ruben Degollado.
๐ Additionally, next week autumn NWEA testing will begin on Tuesday. Please let me know if you would like any further information. I am always available to communicate. - Mr. Gaddy
Pre-Algebra & Algebra I
๐ Pre-Algebra classes are wrapping up Chapter 1 and will have a test toward the end of the week. Algebra is still working through Chapter 1. Both classes are continuing to practice each day with our Math Circuit problems as we work toward our Friday Math Circuit Quizzes.
โก๏ธ A couple of notes for families:
You should be seeing a little homework a couple of times each week. This practice is helping students prepare for our end-of-chapter assessments and keep those skills fresh.
Hopefully, your student brought home their 7th grade M-STEP scores and shared their results with you. There was a LOT of improvement last year, and I am super proud of this group of kids!
Life Science
US History
๐ฆ
Another week of learning in the books! This week we focused on the American ideas about government that led to the Declaration of Independence. We focused on important vocabulary and philosophical underpinnings of the American Revolution including natural rights, republicanism, and social contracts. Next week, we will be focusing on the Declaration of Independence including a close reading of the document.
๐ฏ QUIZ! There is a quiz on Tuesday. This will be a big part of a student's grade and studying outside of class is the best way to ensure a satisfactory grade. Make sure students are reviewing at home and have a plan to make sure they can succeed! Many study materials are on Google Classroom as well as student folders.
โ Vocab Checks. Remember that students will have vocab checks every Friday. Students should be studying for these ongoing assignments to make sure they are up to date on class information.
๐ Writing Assignments: Many students are currently failing the class due to a missing assignment. They have until Monday to turn something in to Mr. Buniewicz to avoid starting to year off with an E. I don't want students to fail my class! It is not too late to turn the assignment in.
โก๏ธ Note from Mr. Buniewicz: This is my last note for the newsletter as Mr. Byrnes is taking over the classroom on Wednesday! He will be in charge of all aspects of the classroom including grading, planning, teaching, and managing the classes. He will be in charge through the first few weeks of December at a minimum. I will be in the room supervising and aiding when needed. He has had a fantastic start to the year and I'm looking forward to him leading the class! Please contact him with any questions or words of encouragement at cbyrnes@kingsleyschools.org.
Art
๐จ From the Art Studio
This week, we explored why we create art and how art can help us express who we are, what we value, and what is important to us. We also discussed how art can bring people together, create change, or simply make a space more enjoyable.
Students are now creating collaborative artwork for around the school that celebrates how we are all unique, but together we create something stronger.
๐ผ๏ธ Our first 3 projects are also being uploaded to Artsonia! Please check your student's portfolio to make sure their work has been submittedโand take a moment to enjoy the artwork they are creating!
๐จ If you have any trouble accessing your student's Artsonia account, please email me at teichler@kingsleyschools.org and I will be happy to help.

Technology
๐ป Digital Literacy
Our lessons on keyboard shortcuts and troubleshooting were so engaging that we spent a few more days on them than originally planned! Weโll start next week by wrapping up our first unit with a focus on healthy technology habits before beginning Truth, Trust & the Internet.
In our new unit, students will explore an important question: How do I know what to believe online? Theyโll practice smarter search strategies, investigate the credibility of online information, recognize clickbait and misinformation, and learn simple fact-checking techniques.
๐ค Innovation Lab
Weโll begin the week with our final Paper Ball Run tests and a project reflection in studentsโ engineering notebooks. Students have received a copy of the project rubric, which is also available in Google Classroom. The project grade is based primarily on how well students documented their design process in their engineering notebooks.
Later in the week, weโll begin our next unit, Think Like a Computer. Students will explore how complex problems can be broken into smaller pieces, how computers follow algorithms, and how computational thinking helps us solve problems. Theyโll then put these ideas into action through coding, testing, debugging, and improving their own programs.
๐จ Please donโt hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
Planning for the Future
๐ง๐ปโ๐ Our school counselor, Mrs. Bradford, recently shared a resource with 8th-grade students to help them begin exploring opportunities after high school. Families are encouraged to explore the Michigan Talent Pathways Post-Graduation Resources together to learn more about college, skilled trades, career training, apprenticeships, military service, and other pathways.
