Pray of Thanks
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with hearts full of joy and gratitude
as we reflect on our time at school camp.
Thank You for the beautiful gift of Your creation, for the fresh air,
the starry night skies, and the freedom to explore the world You made for us.
We thank You for the blessings of safety and protection
over every student, teacher, and leader throughout our journey.
Thank You for the courage to try new challenges, the resilience found in moments of difficulty,
and the laughter shared around the campfire.
Lord, we are deeply grateful for the gift of community.
Thank You for strengthening our bonds of friendship,
for the new connections we forged,
and for the opportunity to see Your face in one another.
As we return to our normal routines, help us to carry the lessons of camp with us.
May we continue to support one another, care for Your creation,
and live each day with grateful and generous hearts.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Principal's Message
We have had a such a wonderful week here at OLOM.
I am thrilled to announce that Our Lady of Mercy won a Quality Catholic Education Award in the Category of Student Led for “Seeds of Change Biodiversity Project”. This project has run for the last six months with some very committed Year Six students under the direction of Mrs Michelle Sadlo. In the upcoming weeks we will be able to share the official video of the student’s great work. Congratulations and stay tuned.
The Year Six students were blessed with three sunny days for their camp at Ern Halliday Recreation. I do wish to sincerely thank Penny Henery and Angelica Jie (Year Six teachers), Rebecca Barfoot and Alison Ryan (Assistant Principals), Kerry Thorne (School Councillor), Hayden King (PE Teacher), Linda Flynn (Technology Teacher) who with myself supported the students over the three days. A full article will be shared in next week’s newsletter.
As the weather begins to warm up a reminder that ALL students must have a SCHOOL HAT. I have intentionally capitalised as this is for everyone. Some students are wearing ball caps that are not SunSmart nor a part of the school uniform. Parents whose child does not have a school issued hat will be receiving a message to inform you and the expectation that you attend the office to pay $20 for a new school issued hat. The rule is No Hat No Play. I strongly encourage you to check that your child has their name clearly written on their hat and that it is regularly washed.
A reminder that you keep an eye out for the new School Fee structure for 2027. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the office to speak with our Finance Officer Mrs Liya Kiros in the first instance.
Parents and caregivers who would like to further contribute to the school’s mission are welcome to raise their hand to become a member of the Advisory Council or a Parents and Friends executive member. The commitment as an Advisory Council member will require attendance at four meetings, one per term and likewise as a P&F Executive member including leading/delegating various friend or fundraising events. Please see the link further below.
Next Friday is World Teacher’s Day. Parents if you have a moment, please take the time to share/voice your gratitude with your child/rens teacher/s.
Have a lovely weekend
Kind regards
Rika
