Textile Recycling Program - BINS LOCATED AT EVERY WPS SCHOOL!
COMMUNITY WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE!
- Every school has textile collection bins
- The schools receive $100 per ton
- Donated items are averted from landfills
- Town of Weymouth saves money on disposal fees
- Items can be in any condition so long as they are clean and dry.
- No hazardous (oil/gas) stains.
- If items are in good enough condition to use as their intended purpose, they are.
- If they are damaged, they become raw materials for new products (ie: sneakers become asphalt, jeans become insulation, etc.)
- HINT: Shoes and jeans are heavy and we get paid by the ton.
- If schools achieve continued success in filling up the bins, they can earn a second bin for increased funding.
This is a WPS District coordinated program. Community members are encouraged to participate. Funds are used at the Principal’s discretion.
