Good Morning,

We are wrapping up our “How Things Move” unit, and it has been full of curiosity, questions, and hands-on learning! Our preschoolers have been busy exploring big ideas like: How does the wind move things? How do machines help us move objects? What are different things that can move? Their thoughtful questions and observations led to many exciting discussions in the classroom.

Throughout the unit, students enjoyed reading and talking about stories such as Gilberto and the Wind, The Cool Pool, and A Little Bit More. These stories helped children see how movement happens in the world around them—from the power of the wind to the ways people and machines work together to get things done. In The Cool Pool and A Little Bit More, students learned how characters used tools like a digger, shovel, dump truck, and steamroller to create a pool at the beach, sparking great conversations about simple machines and teamwork.

As we conclude this unit, we are so proud of the children’s curiosity, creativity, and growing understanding of how things move. Thank you for supporting their learning and continuing these conversations at home!

Information and Communication about school closings and delays:

At Weymouth Public Schools, the safety of our students, staff, and community are our top priorities. When severe weather or emergencies arise that may impact school schedules, WPS will carefully assess the situation to determine the safest outcome. Checkout the WPS website for more information.

Parking Reminder During Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Families are asked not to park on the corner of the driveway used by school vans. (in the back of our building) This area must remain clear for WPS maintenance and transportation vehicles that are entering and exiting throughout the day. Parking in this space creates a safety concern for students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our campus safe.

Have a great Sunday!

HOW TO HELP YOUR CHILD LEARN TO TRADE

About this Series

The Backpack Connection Series was created by TACSEI to provide a way for teachers and parents/caregivers to work together to help young children develop social emotional skills and reduce challenging behavior.

Each Backpack Connection handout provides information that helps parents stay informed about what their child is learning at school and specific ideas on how to use the strategy or skill at home.
