Weekly Message
Good afternoon and Happy Halloween!
It was an active week at DJHS! The weather is changing, courses are busy, and it's Halloween!
Check in on your child and make sure they are in a good space. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance. Small issues are easier to deal with now than larger ones in the future.
Don't forget to Fall Back this weekend!

GENERAL INFO
Parking Passes and Visitor Spots
There are two important updates below regarding the student lot on Brand Road.
1. VISITOR SPOTS: The visitor spots are meant for guest teachers and visitors to DJHS. Moving forward, if you park in a visitor spot as a student, you will be assigned a detention. If it continues, we will follow our progressive ladder (see handbook).
2. PARKING PASSES: As an entity, we are permitted to require passes for students in the lot. Driving is a privilege, not a right, and the purchase of a pass allows us to know who is here at school during the day. This is a safety measure.
Ifyou DO NOT have a pass on your vehicle, we will begin issuing detentions to students and will progress from there. If you need a pass, the steps are below. If you need assistance, please see Mr. P or Mrs. Williams in the main office.
1. Complete the 2025-2026 Parking Pass Form
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Out Periods, CCP, Early Release & Late arrival
A quick reminder about attendance expectations for periods like OUT, CCP, and Early Release/Late Arrival. If you have these on your schedule, it is expected that you are OUT of the building every day during that time.
This is a safety and security issue, and we will be canvassing the common areas around the building to address this. If you are unable to be out each day, then you will be moved to a Study Hall.
Semester Exams 2025
Semester Exams will be held on Dec. 16-Dec. 19 on a modified schedule. Next week I will share the detailed schedule. In the meantime, here are some general details.
- Year-long courses take exams. Semester courses do not have exams.
- We do not permit exams to be taken early.
- If a family chooses to leave early for break, all missed exams will be given Jan. 6-Jan. 9. This requires administrative approval.
- Teachers will not be able to reschedule individual exams for convenience.
- If a student is sick we will work with the family and student on the make up plan.

Congrats to our DJHS Marching Band who received a Superior Rating at the OMEA State Competition last Saturday. Another successful season for our marchers.
Glitter Guild is Looking for Volunteers: Fall Clean Up
DJHS has a student-led Glitter Club, focused on brightening student days and spreading “glitter” — our term for kindness and community spirit. Twice a year, our clubs and charity organize yard clean-ups for local families, mainly involving raking and leaf removal. It’s a big task, and we rely on 50–80 volunteers over a two-day weekend to make it possible. Shifts could be 1 day or both, from 9am-1pm. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to earn service hours and give back to their community
Mechanisms of Human Health and Disease 2026

"Awarded to those whose journey inspires us all." The Trailblazer Award celebrates those who boldly embrace the journey and inspire others along the way. Like true trailblazers, they open new doors of possibility, lead with heart, and encourage others to grow by walking beside them.
If you would like to nominate a DJHS staff member please complete the form below. The deadlines to submit your nomination for the first semester of the 25-26 school year is December 12, by 4:00 pm.

The Spirit of Sport Award, created by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) in 2008, recognizes individuals who exemplify the positive spirit of sport through sportsmanship, leadership, and service to others. The award honors those who have overcome adversity or gone above and beyond in demonstrating the core mission of school-based athletics. Each year, eight section winners and one national recipient are selected from nominations submitted by state associations nationwide.
If you see Karli around the building, please congratulate her!
