The Sandy Run Spotlight
November 9, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Sandy Run Families,
As we wrap up our first marking period, I want to take a moment to thank our students and families for a wonderful start to the school year. Our Sandy Run Cardinals have demonstrated pride in their work, perseverance in the face of challenges, responsibility, and kindness—all qualities that make our school community so special. We are incredibly proud of our students’ growth and accomplishments so far and look forward to beginning the second marking period just as strong.
The start of a new quarter is the perfect time to reset, reestablish good study and homework habits, and set new academic and personal goals. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teachers, grade-level counselor, or administrators if you or your child need support. We are here to help every step of the way.
A Few Important Reminders:
1. SRMS Food Drive
We are collecting nonperishable food items to support our local food banks during the holiday season. Students are encouraged to bring items such as:
-
Food: Canned chicken or tuna, peanut butter, jelly, canned chili and stews, canned pasta, pasta and sauces, canned fruits and vegetables, canned beans, hearty soups (Progresso or Chunky), boxed side dishes, instant potatoes, mac & cheese, cookies and snacks, cold cereals, oatmeal, Pop-Tarts, cooking oil, granola bars, pancake mix and syrup.
-
Drinks: Coffee, tea, juice packs, all types of juices, and shelf-stable milk.
-
Condiments: Salad dressing, ketchup, mayo, mustard.
Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference for families in need.
2. Conference Sign-Ups
Links for parent-teacher conference sign-ups can be found [HERE]. Conferences are not required at the secondary level but are a valuable opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers. Please sign up by Friday, November 21st if you’d like to schedule a conference.
3. Magazine Fundraiser
Our Magazine Fundraiser is underway—this is our biggest fundraiser of the year! We appreciate your support in helping our school community. All registration details and information can be found [HERE].
Finally, our core value for November is gratitude. We encourage all students to show gratitude by:
-
Saying “thank you” to teachers, peers, and family members.
-
Helping a classmate or holding the door for someone.
-
Writing a note of appreciation or expressing thanks verbally.
We are grateful for your ongoing partnership and support in making Sandy Run such a special place to learn and grow.
Warmly,
Jennifer Nuskey

💡LEARNING HIGHLIGHTS
Clyde's Cash Incentive~Dunkin Breakfast!
This month, we’re celebrating our amazing Sandy Run students who earned and turned in 15 Clyde’s Cash during November and enjoyed a special Dunkin’ Breakfast Party! Students earn Clyde’s Cash for demonstrating our Sandy Run values every day—whether it’s helping a classmate, showing kindness, picking up trash in the hallway, or showing respect to a staff member.
On Friday, our students had the opportunity to turn in their Clyde’s Cash for a variety of fun incentives, and our Dunkin’ breakfast was definitely a hit! We’re so proud of our Cardinals for continuing to make Sandy Run a positive and respectful community. Keep up the great work!
Honoring our Veterans
Our eighth graders are honoring military heroes in anticipation of Veterans Day. The students created stars to recognize a personal military connection, and on hand shapes that mimic their own, they wrote messages expressing gratitude for the courage and sacrifice of those who serve. ⭐

PBIS Updates: November Value~Gratitude
This month, our PBIS focus is Gratitude — taking time to recognize and appreciate the people and moments that make a difference in our lives. Middle school can move fast, and it’s easy to forget how far a simple “thank you” can go.
Students can show gratitude by:
-
Thanking teachers, staff, and classmates for their help and support
-
Writing a note or sending a kind message to someone who’s made a positive impact
-
Taking care of our school spaces to show appreciation for our community
-
Noticing and celebrating the small, good things each day
Let’s make November a month filled with kindness, appreciation, and positive connections!
