A Message From Mrs. Salas: A Message From Mrs. Salas:

Dear Runyan Families,

Our fourth grade teachers are excited to welcome families to Parent Information Night this coming Thursday! You’ll learn more about what your child is learning in class and get helpful tips on how to support learning at home. Plus, we’ll be providing a hot dog dinner for families—come hungry and join us! 🌭 (this event is only for 4th grade students and their family)

We are looking forward to celebrate Go Texan Day! Our students will participate in various activities that celebrate and remind us of our rich, Texas heritage, including a petting zoo, hayride, chili cook-off, horseshoe pitching, and much more. Students are encouraged to dress in traditional western wear. See flier below. Only students who bring their permission slip signed by Thursday will be allowed to participate in outdoor activities.

We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our second Picnic with Parents in collaboration with our PTO! Please see the invitation below for details, and don't forget to complete the pre-registration to ensure check-in on the day of the event. Only parents/guardians who pre-register by March 5th, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. will be able to attend and participate in the event.

We look forward to seeing you here!

Regards,

Anel Salas, Principal

Runyan Elementary

Assessment Family Report

MAP Growth Assessment Family Reports have been uploaded to the Conroe ISD Home Access Center (HAC). The MAP Growth Family Report summarizes how your student is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test taken. To access the MAP Growth Family Report in HAC, navigate to the District Applications tab and click on "MAP Testing Reports". To learn more about the MAP Growth test, you can view the What is MAP Growth Video for Families (English) or Qué es MAP Growth-Video for families (Spanish). Additional information about MAP Growth can be found by visiting NWEA.org/familytoolkit

While MAP Growth Family Reports are not available in Spanish, MAP does provide a sample report in Spanish for reference purposes.

Toys and Personal Items

We’ve noticed some students bringing toys or small items (like Labubus) attached to their backpacks. We do not recommend students bring toys or personal items to school, as they can easily get lost or damaged.

Please note that the school is not responsible for any lost or damaged items.

Arrival & Student Safety

For safety purposes we ask parents to not let students out of their vehicle in the street, at the bus ramp, and in the parking lot. This is a safety concern and also interferes with the efficiency of our traffic pattern. If your child will be tardy, please park your vehicle in an identified parking spot and walk your children into the front office to sign them in for the day. We appreciate your help in keeping our students safe and our car rider line flowing efficiently.

This is a student-only event, so parents will not be able to attend with their child. However, PTO is looking for volunteers to help. 😊

Carter Hart, RN

Janie Trejo, Clinic Assistant

Clinic Information

  • Please pack an extra pair of clothes, including underwear and socks, in your child’s backpack DAILY. (accidents and spills happen often)... even 4th graders.

  • It's important to call, email, or send a note to the nurse and teacher if your child is having any type of health problem on a particular day. This is extremely helpful for the nurse if your child presents to the clinic,

REGARDING MEDICATION:

In order for the nurse to give your child any medication (over the counter or prescription) a current, written doctors order is encouraged:

  1. The medication must be approved for your child's age by the FDA (herbs cannot be given).

  2. The medication must be in the original container

  3. The medication must have the current prescription label on the bottle or inhaler

  4. The medication must be BROUGHT to the nurse by the parent/guardian and permission form signed

  5. Per CISD policy children are not allowed to transport medication (prescribed/otc)

REGARDING ILLNESS

A student will be sent home from school, with the following symptoms:

  • Temperature of 100 degrees or more, please keep your child home, until fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducer medication. This ensures your child is well and will not spread illness at school. A student should not be sent to school if a fever reducing medication is required to get the temperature below 100 degrees

  • Vomiting or diarrhea

  • Too ill to function in the classroom

  • Suspected contagious condition or disease

Vision and Hearing Screenings:

  • Pre-K, Kinder, 1st and 3rd graders and those new to Texas, will have vision and hearing screening this fall. Referrals will be sent home with those who fail. If your child has already had a screening with their medical provider you may send a copy to the clinic and we will update their health record.

Please call or email with questions or concerns

Lunch Visitors Lunch Visitors

Starting Monday, August 25th, we will begin welcoming a limited number of parents to join their child for lunch. We will continue with our procedures just like last year:
  • Only one adult may accompany a child at lunchtime. The adult must be identified within the child's records as a person with access to the child, and she/he will need a photo ID to check-in to the school.

  • The student and his/her adult guest will eat at the table in the Sun Room, near the front office.

  • A reservation is required, which the adult can book by calling the school receptionist at 936-709-2800.

  • Due to space, there is a limit of 5 reservations available for each lunch period.

  • Parents can sign up to join their child for lunch once every week.

*** Please note that there will be no lunch visitors on Thursday, 12/18, and Friday, 12/19, as the Sunroom will be unavailable. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
