Principal's Corner
Hello FamiLEE,
We had a great second week back and we hope all of you will enjoy the long MLK weekend. Our Spring open house is coming up on Tuesday, January 28. We will have a parent meeting and data discussion in the theatre at 5:30pm and then you can visit your child's teachers in their classrooms to meet and discuss your child's progress. If you child isn't with you, we will be passing out schedules so that you can find their classes.
As we begin the spring semester, I want to emphasize the importance of all students being here each day and on time. Good attendance is essential for achievement in school and we need your child here as much as possible so that we can move forward as a school community. When your child misses school for any reason, please send excuse notes to LHS.Attendance@hsv-k12.org.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Kitrise Torain
LHS Principal

Shout-Outs
- Shout-out to our Freshmen of the Week from this week! Virginia Stricklin comes to us from AAA Middle. Here at Lee she is in the theatre magnet and is currently participating in both of our Spring shows. In her spare time she likes to read. When she graduates from high school she would like to college to major in theatre or possibly major in therapy. Her favorite teacher at Lee is Mr. Kisor because he is really funny and his room is a safe, welcoming space. JeKhari McCauley comes to us from McNair Junior High. Here at Lee he is on the varsity basketball team. In his spare time he likes to play basketball and play video games. When he graduates from high school he wants to go to college to major in engineering. He likes all of his teachers at Lee because they are nice and are helpful! Congratulations to both of them for representing our FamiLEE values so well!
- Shout-out to Lee High Vocal Magnet Junior Madyson Agun for doing a beautiful job singing the National Anthem for the Lee vs. Jemison game Tuesday at the Alabama A&M University event center!
- Shout-out to Lee High Varsity Girls Basketball Team for taking down Mae Jemison 36-32 Tuesday at the Alabama A&M University event center!
Last night at the Galaxy Awards, our school shined bright! We were honored to receive a District Award for growth, celebrating the incredible work happening within the building. A huge congratulations to our very own Mr. Shields, who was named DISTRICT Support Person of the Year, to our Teacher of the Year, Mr. McDonald, and to Ms. Thompson for achieving her National Board Certification! The love and support we felt from the audience showed just how much our FamiLee is appreciated. Thank you to everyone who makes our school such an amazing place to learn, grow, and succeed!
