Bingham BlastWeek of February 2, 2026

Message from Mrs. McKinney Message from Mrs. McKinney

Dear Bingham Farms Families,

It is so hard to believe that we are in the Month of February. Last week we opened our doors to the future Eagles by hosting our JK/K round up. This is always an exciting night as we get a glimpse of our newest members of our learning community.

We have a busy two weeks leading up to mid-winter break. Report card season opens soon with access to them in PowerSchool beginning Wednesday, February 11th. They will remain open until the end of the day Wednesday, February 25th. Stay tuned to more detailed information regarding this.

At the end of the month, we are looking forward to hosting an open house/ribbon cutting to open our building to the community to come and visit the new addition, the backfilled renovated spaces and overall feel of the newly spaced-out school. Please save February 24th at 5pm-6pm to come and explore how amazing our space looks. We can't thank you enough for your bond support that made all of this possible. I am looking forward to sharing the educational impact in the weeks to come.

And as a final plug, we are looking forward to PTA's hosting of our PreK-2 VIP and Me Dance this coming Friday night! Enjoy a night "under the stars" 6pm-8pm with your little one(s)!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Joanna

Music Concert for Grades 2-5 Music Concert for Grades 2-5

Hi Bingham Families,

It's officially concert season for our second through fifth grade students. Our Spring concert will be Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30pm at Groves High School Auditorium and our theme this year is Bingham On Broadway. Students have been working in each music class to learn and memorize their songs. Below is a flyer with details as well as links for practicing at home. All music must be memorized and practicing at home helps your child feel confident, supported, and prepared for our concert (especially with all these snow days and missed classes!).

Parking Lot Safety (repeat) Parking Lot Safety (repeat)

If you are picking up your child at dismissal, PLEASE be extra careful in the parking lot. The weather season brings extra challenges and we need everyone to pack some extra patience during dismissal. Please park in lined parking spots only (the red x's on the map are NOT parking spots, and create problems for traffic flow when there is a car there).

If you are parking, please use the cross walks and if you are using the drive up lanes, stay with the designated flow and drive slowly!

Attention 4th & 5th - Science Olympiad Attention 4th & 5th - Science Olympiad

It’s time to start thinking about Birmingham’s 2026 Science Olympiad! This year's Science Olympiad will take place on Saturday, April 11th, 2026 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at West Maple Elementary School. Information/permission slips were given to students this week. Please note there is a physical permission slip and a Google Form that were both due to Miss Tindall on Wednesday, January 28th. If you need another copy of the permission slip you can find it here. Additionally, we will be using Remind to communicate, especially on the day of the event. Please sign up for Remind by texting @d4gdcda to 81010

If you missed the above deadline, and your child is interested, please have your child speak with Ms. Tindall.

Also, please consider coaching a team, volunteering to organize and purchase team supplies, or volunteering on the day of Science Olympiad at West Maple. Parent support is critical!

Lastly, you can see what SO is like by watching this video BPS made at a prior year’s event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCII-IFYFAE I look forward to great season!

Please let me know if you have any questions,

Jacquelyn Tindall

Climate Survey - student opt out (repeat) Climate Survey - student opt out (repeat)

Repeat - This was sent out on 1/16

As an important partner in your child’s education, BPS values input from our community and we believe hearing directly from your student(s) is vital. Students' voices are important as we work to improve our communication, academic programming and overall school experience. To learn more about their experiences at school, we will be asking for feedback from students in grades 3-12 through an annual online survey that will be completed at school. The 2025-26 survey is anonymous and takes less than 20 minutes to complete. The student survey window begins Monday, February 2 and concludes Friday, February 13. Your student will only need to complete the survey once.

We highly encourage all BPS students to participate in the surveys, as their feedback will provide us invaluable insight into their experiences and how the district can improve/adapt to their needs. If a student does not feel they have enough information to answer a question, they are allowed to skip the item altogether. The survey content will ask students to self-reflect on their general perceptions of the school, preparedness to learn, sense of belonging, cultural awareness, and school engagement.

If you wish to view the survey questions before administration, please contact me to receive a demo link, which allows you to impersonate the student survey-taking experience. You are also welcome to review the survey on our district website. If you have any questions about the BPS Climate Survey, please do not hesitate to contact me via telephone or email. Additionally, please complete the linked questionnaire by Friday, January 30 at noon, if you do not want your child to participate in the survey.

As the weather changes and is getting wetter and colder, here are a few friendly reminders!

· No matter your child's age or grade, include a spare set of clothes in their backpack to keep in their locker. I promise it will come in handy when it's wet or muddy outside!

· Label, label, label! Label every jacket, hat, glove, and mitten! We can easily empty out our lost and found if we know who it belongs to - see picture above!

· We go to play outside unless it is below 10 degrees (including wind chill) so please send your child with cold-weather items suited for the temperature.

When there is snow on the ground students need boots and snow pants in order to play on the field and playground equipment.

Cold and Flu Season (repeat) Cold and Flu Season (repeat)

The colder days are upon us and so is the cold and the flu season. In an effort to remain transparent regarding the health of our students and staff, I wanted to share some context regarding illnesses in the school and notices sent in the last week. We have had several absences of students and staff that fall into the respiratory category. Influenza A, strep and bronchitis are actively being called in as absences for our students and staff. We want everyone to be aware of these illnesses, especially as we are getting closer to our winter break.

At school, we are practicing good hand washing habits and reminding students to cover their mouth with their elbow when coughing. We are also efficiently cleaning all of the classrooms on a daily basis. Finally, if your child's is experiencing any symptoms, we appreciate your intentionality with communicating your child absence to school.

Your child can return to school when they have been fever free without using fever reducing medication for 24 hours AND are feeling well enough to attend school.

I have included a link below to the Oakland County Health Department for additional information.

OCHD Reference Chart.

Thank you for your partnership and wishing everyone a great week!

Absences and Doctor's notes (repeat) Absences and Doctor's notes (repeat)

Doctor's notes are not necessary when your child is out of school, but if you have one or an appointment reminder, email it to Sarah Allen at SAllen2@birmingham.k12.mi.us so we can change the absence code.
