Dear Farnham Families,

We hope all of our Farnham families enjoyed a restful week off surrounded by loved ones during the Thanksgiving break. As we return, we look forward to a wonderful two more weeks of learning, connection, and joy before we head into Winter Break.

We are also excited to begin our new family tours next week! Please help us spread the word. Share with friends, neighbors, and anyone interested in joining our vibrant Farnham community. Families can contact our Farnham office for more information and to reserve a tour spot. We can’t wait to show off all that Farnham has to offer!

And looking ahead, priority registration for families opens on January 12th. (Please see the flyer below.) More details will be shared as we get closer.

Be well,

Amy O'Hehir

Schoolwide Focus

This week, our schoolwide focus was on perspective-taking, understanding that others may feel differently in various situations, and practicing empathy. Students explored what it means to listen, validate feelings, and consider experiences beyond their own. Families can support this at home by encouraging conversations that start with:

“How do you think they felt?”
“What might have been going on for them?”
“What would help you show empathy in this situation?”

A NOTE FROM YOUR HSC BOARD:

Hello Fabulous Farnham Families,

We hope everyone had a restful Thanksgiving break and returns to Farnham refreshed and ready to tackle the end of the year.

As the Home and School Club (HSC) moves forward with planning for the second half of the school year, we need your help! We are currently looking for volunteers to help coordinate our upcoming Spring Events.

If you are interested in any of the roles below, please send us a note at farnhamhscvolunteer@gmail.com or hscfarnham@gmail.com.

Spring Event Volunteer Roles:

- Sweetheart Dance Coordinator (Event Date: February 6): We need someone to plan small activities, music, decorations, and general family fun for this evening.

- Walkathon Committee (Event Date: April 24): The first planning meeting for the Walkathon will take place on January 14 (Time TBD). We are looking for volunteers interested in coordinating activities, soliciting sponsors, and supporting fundraising efforts.

- Talent Show Coordinator (Date TBD): This role involves coordinating auditions and managing the day-of school-wide assembly.

CROSSING GUARD NEEDED

Please consider signing up to volunteer for a day/time slot to help our Falcons cross the street until this position is filled. If you are able to commit to a certain day every week, that would be very helpful. If not, we appreciate any time slot you can fill:

Lost & Found Items

Please stop by to pick up lost jackets, hats, water bottles and lunchboxes! Lost & Found is located next to the cafeteria doorway. When possible we will display lost and found in front of the school for your convivence

Labeling your items with first and last name helps us to get lost items back to our students. Please label all items sent to school!

EXTENDED!! ALL LOST AND FOUND WILL BE DONATED BEFORE WINTER BREAK.

The main drop-off and pick-up areas are in the front of the school (the loop) on Woodard Ave, and in the parking lot. Both options are drop off and pick-up only. NO parking is allowed. Do NOT leave your car unattended.
The left lane in the loop is for passing only. The lane closest to the white curb is for drop-off and pick-up ONLY.
Students should be prepared ahead of time to exit the vehicle at drop-off.

Pull all the way forward, stay in your car, and allow your child to exit or enter curbside as quickly as possible.

Keep Our Students Safe

Students who ride a bike, scooter or skate board to school must wear a helmet.
Student safety during drop off is provided by staff and student leadership. Please respect our helpers.
Use sidewalks and crosswalks ONLY. Please teach your child to NOT walk through the parking lot or through the loop from the inner lane.
Do not block neighbor driveways EVER.
It is against the law to park in a space designated for disabled persons (if you do not have a placard), or park in front of a curb painted red or yellow. Violators will be ticketed, towed, and/or reported to police.

IF YOU CAN, WALK YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL! Park on the street in the neighborhood and walk with your child to school. It's quality time with your child, a great way for students to get their wiggles out, and an opportunity to get to know other parents.

Your recent photo day portraits are now ready to view/order. To view your child's gallery, use the QR slip your child brought home from picture day. No QR slip, no problem! Visit our Find My Code to obtain your child's gallery code: https://fmc.generationsschoolphotography.com/

Supporting Families in Need

We’d like to share an important community resource: Second Harvest Food Bank. They are ready to support families in need of food and are currently accepting donations to help provide meals directly to local families. If your family could use assistance, or if you’re able to give, please visit Second Harvest’s website to learn more about how to access food or contribute.

Additionally, in San Jose, local favorite Tony & Alba’s Pizza and Pasta is stepping up to support families impacted by the SNAP/CalFresh delay. The restaurant is not only offering meals to those who receive CalFresh benefits but has also compiled a list of other local businesses helping to feed families during this time.

Together, we can make a difference by spreading the word and supporting these community efforts.
