Hello, SECC Families!

September, you were a whirlwind! And somehow, here we are, already saying goodbye to the first month of school. As I walked through SECC this week, I found myself noticing something that made me smile: our school is starting to feel like a school.

There is a rhythm developing in our classrooms. Our kiddos are settling into routines, getting to know their teachers and classmates, finding their confidence, and beginning to feel more and more at home in their classrooms. We are seeing more independence, more friendships forming, more confident voices, and plenty of those wonderfully imperfect moments that come with learning and growing together.

I also know that the start of a school year is a big transition for families. New schedules, new routines, new faces, backpacks to remember, and all of the little details that come with getting everyone out the door each morning! Thank you for your patience and partnership as we have worked through those adjustments together. Your support at home makes such a difference in helping our kiddos feel successful at school.

As we turn the calendar to October, I hope you take a moment to celebrate your child and all of the little ways they have grown this month. Whether they are coming home excited to share about their day, proudly showing you something they learned, or simply feeling a little more comfortable walking through our doors each morning. Those are the moments that matter.

We are looking forward to a wonderful October filled with learning, laughter, friendship, and plenty of opportunities for our kiddos to shine. ๐Ÿ

Happy October, SECC families!

Lisa

๐Ÿ“ž A BIG Thank You from Mrs. Webb! ๐Ÿ“ž A BIG Thank You from Mrs. Webb!

Mrs. Webb, our school secretary, is so excited to share that our SECC families have been doing an amazing job calling the absence line to let us know when your kiddos will be absent from school!

She wants to send a HUGE thank you for your collaboration and support. When you let us know that your child will be absent, it helps us make sure all of our kiddos are accounted for and safe.

Thank you for helping us keep our SECC community safe! ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ—๏ธPreK Building, Playing & Learning Together! ๐Ÿ—๏ธPreK Building, Playing & Learning Together!

Our PreK littles have been busy building, creating, and learning how to play together! Through hands-on play, our kiddos are practicing important skills like sharing materials, taking turns, communicating their ideas, and working together to create something new.

We love watching our youngest learners discover that play is not only funโ€”itโ€™s also a wonderful way to build friendships, problem-solve, and learn together! ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ”Ž Kindergarteners Are Learning About Attributes! ๐Ÿ”Ž Kindergarteners Are Learning About Attributes!

Our kindergarteners are busy learning about attributes through our EL Education ELA curriculum! They are exploring how objects can be described and compared by noticing characteristics such as shape, size, color, texture, and other observable features.

Through hands-on exploration, conversation, and lots of noticing and wondering, our students are building vocabulary and learning how to use specific details to describe the world around them. We love seeing our youngest learners put their thinking into words and make connections as they explore!

๐Ÿš— Arrival & Dismissal Reminder ๐Ÿš— Arrival & Dismissal Reminder

Thank you, families, for helping us establish smooth and safe arrival and dismissal routines! As we continue to fine-tune our procedures, we want to highlight a few important reminders:

  • Please remain in your vehicle during parent pick-up and drop-off. This helps keep the line moving safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
  • Students should enter and exit vehicles on the passenger side only, where staff can safely assist them.
  • Please have your car placard clearly visible so we can quickly identify your child.
  • If your child needs assistance getting in or out of the car, please park in the parking lot and meet your child at the Main Entrance. You are welcome to walk your child to/from the entrance alongside our other families.
  • Please follow staff directions and avoid pulling around or passing other vehicles, buses, or vans.

These routines help us keep everyone safe while making the parent pick-up line as efficient as possible. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping SECC safe! ๐Ÿ’›

Bullying Awareness & Prevention Bullying Awareness & Prevention

At SECC, one of our goals is to help our littles learn how to learn, how to play, how to problem-solve, how to make friends, and how to navigate relationships with others. These are important skills that take time, practice, and lots of adult support!

Weโ€™re sharing the districtโ€™s Bullying Awareness & Prevention presentation as a resource for families. It provides helpful information about recognizing bullying, responding to concerns, and supporting children as they develop positive relationships and social-emotional skills.

We appreciate your partnership as we work together to help every child feel safe, valued, connected, and ready to learn. ๐Ÿ’›
