CTE Augmented Reality Welding Demo
The Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) Welding program has recently incorporated augmented reality (AR) welding systems into its curriculum. Our state-of-the-art virtual welding lab, the first of its kind in New York State, has enabled the program to expand enrollment while significantly reducing consumable costs. Students are safely introduced to welding processes such as stick, MIG, TIG and more with the AugmentedArc® Augmented Reality Welding System; a highly realistic multi-process welding simulation solution for classroom training. Once students master the basics, they transition to a fully equipped shop environment, where they apply their skills by following layouts, blueprints, work orders and verbal instructions. Using advanced tools like oxyacetylene, MIG, TIG and arc welding apparatus, students develop the expertise needed to excel in the field. When ready, students can take certification exams, opening doors to industry-specific welding credentials and career opportunities. This innovative approach to education reflects CTE's commitment to providing cutting-edge training that prepares students for success in the welding industry.
Strength, Skill & Success: Celebrating Women in the Trades
