A Message From Mrs. Carmody A Message From Mrs. Carmody

Dear Fremont Families,

Thank you to all of our amazing room parents who were able to attend our PTO meeting on Wednesday night. We truly appreciate your partnership and the time you give to support our classrooms and students. During the meeting, we shared a presentation on expectations for volunteers. If you plan on volunteering in the school this year, please be sure to review this slideshow and complete the form to confirm that you have finished the training. This step is important to ensure that all of our volunteers are prepared and ready to support a safe and positive school environment.

We have been having some issues with Pokémon cards on the bus. To avoid conflicts or lost items, please keep Pokémon cards and other treasured belongings at home. Thank you for your help in keeping our bus rides safe and smooth!

As we head into the weekend, we’re grateful for this stretch of summer-like weather. Hopefully the sunshine holds and we can all enjoy a little extra time outdoors!

Sincerely,

Beth Carmody

Principal

Our kindergarten students had a wonderful time at their Fall Fest! They enjoyed a variety of stations, including Play-Doh, sensory bins, crafts, and games. The sunny weather made the day even brighter, and it was great to see so many smiling faces. A big thank you to the parents who volunteered. We truly appreciate your support in making this special event possible!

Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong! Attendance Awareness Month: Start Strong!

Welcome back, Wildcats! September is Attendance Awareness Month, and there’s no better time to start strong. Showing up each day helps students build routines, connect with classmates, and stay on track with learning. Let’s work together—families and school—to make attendance a priority from the very beginning. And as always, if your child is experiencing vomiting, diarrhea, or a fever, please keep them home until they’ve been symptom-free (without medication) for 24 hours.

Rally Point Drill—September 22 Rally Point Drill—September 22

On Monday, September 22, we will have our Rally Point Drill, which is a simple walkthrough to help students practice where to go in preparation for our ALICE drill later in the school year. More information about the ALICE drill and when we will be doing it will be shared in a future email. If you have questions about ALICE drills, please consider attending the Parent University Presentation on September 25. See below for more information.

Parent Internet Content Filtering Resource Parent Internet Content Filtering Resource

FSD79 is partnering with Securly to provide internet content filtering on student-issued devices. Securly offers registered parents/guardians the opportunity to participate in the online safety of their children by providing access to view their student’s internet activity within the Securly Home Web Portal or the Securly Home App (available on both Android and iPhone). The Securly Home App has additional features that allow parents/guardians to receive push notifications on flagged activity, schedule when their student's device is offline, and pause and unpause their student’s internet usage on the school-issued device while away from school.

Starting next week, parents/guardians who have not already registered will receive a "Welcome to Securly” email from noreply@securly.com to complete their registration. Registered parents/guardians will receive weekly activity reports, offering a snapshot of their child’s internet use on the school-issued device.

For more information on Securly Home Web Portal and Securly Home App, click here. To log into the Securly Home Web Portal via a web browser, click here.

For registration issues, please contact Craig Albers, Director of Information Systems and Network Security.

Hearing and Vision Screening Information Hearing and Vision Screening Information

Beginning October 20, 2025, Fremont Elementary students will be screened for hearing and/or vision by a Fremont District 79 certified screener. Vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Your child is not required to undergo this vision screening if an optometrist or ophthalmologist has completed and signed a report form indicating that an examination has been administered within the previous 12 months.

Kindergarteners who have submitted the required state vision form will only be screened for hearing. Those who have not submitted the vision form will also be screened for vision. First graders will be screened for hearing only. Second graders will be screened for hearing and vision. Students receiving special education services and students new to the district in all grades will be screened for hearing and vision. If your child is not scheduled to be screened we will be glad to screen them for hearing and/or vision upon your request

If a child does not pass the first screening, they will be rescreened two weeks later. If they do not pass the second screening, a letter will be sent to the parents/guardians notifying them that their child will need further evaluation.

The parent or legal guardian of a student may object to hearing and/or vision screening tests for their child on religious grounds. If you object, please notify me at 847-837-0437 ext. 2002 or contact your child’s teacher.
