A message from Principal Travnik

Dear Students,

As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I want to take a moment to commend each and every one of you for the dedication and resilience you've shown thus far. This year has presented its fair share of challenges, but your commitment to your studies and your determination to succeed have been truly inspiring. With just a few months left, it's crucial to stay focused and determined to complete your subjects and achieve the goals you've set for yourself. Remember, each assignment, each exam, and each effort you put in brings you one step closer to your aspirations. Keep pushing forward, stay motivated, and never lose sight of the finish line.

Sincerely,

Stan Travnik - Principal

Mental Health & Wellness Mental Health & Wellness

Mindful Pause for Personal Well-Being

Self Compassion

Self-compassion is a practice of goodwill, not good feelings… With self-compassion we mindfully accept that the moment is painful, and embrace ourselves with kindness and care in response, remembering that imperfection is part of the shared human experience.

(Neff, 2019)

6 Tips to Practice

1. Treat yourself as you'd treat a friend.

2. Become more self aware

3. Self acceptance

4. Let go of the need for outside validation

5. Reaching out to others

6, Let yourself make mistakes

Kickstand

Kickstand Connect is a virtual walk-in clinic for Albertans aged 11-25 (but they said their age range is soft; kids will not be denied if they are older or younger than that). Their services are provided by Alberta-certified providers, and there is NO COST associated with them.

There is NO limit to how many times a kid can access the walk-in services; they will be directed to further support if their needs are more intensive. This program has a TON of connections to other mental health support programs in the province.

Parent Council!

PARENT COUNCIL! Fun Fact: We do NOT do any fundraising and there are no committees.

We have started a Parent Council for Black Gold Home Based and Outreach!

Meetings are kept to a ONE hour time limit and are a great opportunity for parents to learn about their child's school and have a voice. The goal of parent council this year is to build community and improve communication so that everyone has a voice at the table and our students can have the best educational experience possible.

Here is your chance to be involved in the education of your child.

Email any questions to: bgos.council@gshare.blackgold.ca

Meetings are at 6:00 pm at Beaumont Outreach!

There will be snacks!

Upcoming meeting dates:

Tuesday, June 4
