Unsung Hero Award Nominations Unsung Hero Award Nominations

It is that time of the year again. We have the chance to nominate a 6th grader for the Unsung Hero Award for Ocean County. If you believe one of our students is a good fit for this award, please send me a one-page summary/speech explaining why the student should be chosen to tloeffler@beachhavenschool.com

Please keep in mind that many children will be receiving this award in the county, so please keep your summary/speech to one page, double-spaced only! The person who nominates the student should be the one to present the award and give the speech. If you prefer, I can speak on your behalf. If more than one person nominates the same student, I can combine information into one speech and have one of us present.

All nominations need to be sent to me by January 31st, 2025.

Parent/Caregiver Survey Request Parent/Caregiver Survey Request

As a small school, every child absent significantly impacts our school's chronic absenteeism rate because each child represents a more significant percentage of our population than other schools. The advantage our children get from having smaller class sizes can be negatively impacted by each absence they have. We aim to have students here in school as often as possible so they can benefit most from their education. Students who reach 18 or more absences in a single school year are considered chronically absent.

Emergency Preparedness Emergency Preparedness

  • Make A Plan: Families may not be together if a disaster strikes, so it is important to create plans that outline how they will contact each other during an emergency.
  • Build a Kit: Assemble emergency kits containing essential supplies like water, non-perishable food, first aid supplies, flashlights, batteries, and important documents. Ensure these kits are easily accessible and periodically updated.
  • Ready Kids: Engage students in age-appropriate preparedness activities. Utilize FEMA’s “Ready Kids” resources to teach children about emergency planning.
  • Pet Preparedness: Pets are important members of families too, so they need to be included when making a plan.
