Irons Testing Information
MAP Testing Information
On May 5-12, our students will take their last round of MAP (Measures of Academic
Progress) testing. To provide students with ample time and a focused environment, we
will follow a modified block schedule during the testing days. This schedule allows
students to test in longer sessions while reducing transitions between classes. Find the
link to our modified schedule below.
MAP testing helps us track each student’s growth and tailor instruction to meet their
needs. We encourage students to get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy
breakfast.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help every student reach
their full potential!
Cell Phones & Testing
Maintaining a secure and focused testing environment is essential to ensuring fairness and student success during all upcoming testing dates. To support this, students are not permitted to have cell phones out at any time during testing. If a student is found with a cell phone, the device will be confiscated and taken to the Assistant Principal’s office, a parent will be contacted, and the parent will be required to pick up the phone. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your child and helping us maintain the integrity of our testing environments.
MAP Testing
MAP Growth Assessment Family Reports have been uploaded to the Conroe ISD Home Access Center (HAC). The MAP Growth Family Report summarizes how your student is performing academically, as measured by the most recent MAP Growth test taken. To access the MAP Growth Family Report in HAC, navigate to the District Applications tab and click on "MAP Testing Reports". To learn more about the MAP Growth test, you can view the What is MAP Growth Video for Families (English) or Qué es MAP Growth-Video for families (Spanish). Additional information about MAP Growth can be found by visiting NWEA.org/familytoolkit.
2026-2027 School Year
Counselor Corner
May is Mental Health Awareness Month: See the Person. Support the Journey.
Dear Irons Junior High Families,
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year's SAMHSA theme is See the Person Support the Journey. This is a reminder that mental health is part of everyday life. It shapes how our kids think, feel, connect with others, and show up at school and at home.
As parents and caregivers, you are often the first to notice when something feels off. Changes in mood, sleep, appetite, or behavior can sometimes signal that a young person needs a little extra support. Most mental health conditions begin to emerge in young adulthood, which means the middle school years are an important time to pay attention and keep the lines of communication open. When young people feel heard and respected, especially by the adults closest to them, they are far more likely to ask for help.
This month, we encourage you to have open, judgment-free conversations with your child about how they are feeling. You don't need all the answers. Simply listening with care and compassion goes a long way. Let your child know that mental health matters just as much as physical health, and that seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.
If you have concerns about your child or just want to learn more about available resources, please don't hesitate to reach out to our school counselors. They are here to support your family and can connect you with the right resources.
Together, we can help every student at Irons feel seen, supported, and ready to thrive.
Warm regards,
The Irons Junior High Counseling Team
