IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR K-8 FAMILIES
MRS. CERNY'S CORNER
YES-WE HAVE SCHOOL TOMORROW, JANUARY 30th!
We added this day back into the calendar because of all the days we have used!
You received an OptionC with this information earlier this week!
Thanks for a good 19th week of school!
It warms our hearts to have your children here each day! It's good for allof us to be together!
WEATHER COLD DAYS
The forecast for Northeast Ohio for the next couple of weeks is COLD weather. We simply cannot take off of school for every cold day. Almost all of our students are dropped off approximately 50 ft from the school door where they enter a WARM building. They do not go out for recess-they use our beautiful gym. We can make adjustments for dismissal so they are not our for prolonged periods of time. Please cooperate and bring your children to school.
SPEAKING of DISMISSAL.....
Please pick up your children on time. School dismisses at 2:50pm. I can understand that life happens and that sometimes you may be running late BUT any time past 3:20pm is TOO LATE. After school there are still many things going on. There are staff meetings, grade level meetings and Mrs. Armbruster and I are often finishing work that we could not complete during the day.
I appreciate your attention to this matter.
SECURITY CAMERAS
Over the Christmas break, security cameras were installed throughout the Saint Rocco School campus: gym, cafeteria, hallways, classrooms and outside. We are all very happy about the extra layer of security. FYI: We did have cameras in the old school building, too. We had to wait to save the money to install them in the new school building.
CUPID'S CARNIVAL- FEBRUARY 12TH
Check out this weeks' flyer for our 2nd annual Cupid's Carnival for our Saint Rocco families! We will be having a beef/chicken taco bar, rice and beans and cupcakes! It is an evening of fun and fellowship with our Saint Rocco Community! Registration and money DUE February 5th--hard deadline:)
WINTER MAP TESTING
The next MAP test will be:
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 3rd LANGUAGE ARTS 9-11:00am
Please help in your child's success by making sure they get a good night's sleep and are here on time to eat breakfast.
NO STUDENTS WILL BE ADMITTED AFTER 8:30am on these days. This is because the students and teachers are preparing to test at 9:00am.
GRADE 7/8 Parents/Guardians
The Sacrament of Confirmation for 7th and 8th grade Catholic students is this year! If you would like your child to receive the sacrament, please call the school office. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SENT A FORM IN, YOU DO NOT NEED TO CALL. Confirmation is on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 2:30pm at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist. Please call as soon as possible--Confirmation preparation will begin in February. Thank you.
DRESS CODE
The dress code is starting to look a little sloppy. Please remember NO hoodies in class. Students may wear a black, gray, maroon or even white sweater. They may wear SRS sweatshirts from last year or our gray SRS sweatshirt. Tennis shoes must be ALL black; not black and other colors. Also, girls MAY NOT wear LEGGINGS as pants-- they may be worn under skirts. Lastly, acrylic nails are NEVER permitted--they are a safety issue. Thank you for your cooperation.
Let's keep looking Crusader Strong ALL year long!
AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING
One Hope NEO -right across the street from Saint Rocco is offering FREE after school tutoring for student in K-3. Tutoring is expanding for students in Grades K-8 beginning in January. You must sign a waiver for the tutoring and One Hope is willing to walk children over after school. If you are interested, see the attached flyer and contact One Hope NEO.
WEATHER REMINDERS
IF SCHOOL IS CLOSED because of the weather, you will receive an OPTION C phone call, text and email. The closing will also be posted on Channels 3, 5, 8 and 19. If you do not receive a message, school IS OPEN.
A dress code reminders:
We are now past shorts weather as a uniform OR dress down option. Shorts may be worn in September and in May.
Just a weather reminder: Please dress your child for the weather. If it is nice outside, the children will have recess outside. Please make sure they have appropriate jackets, hats and gloves when needed. The fresh air and a little physical activity is good for the children.
*** Children NEED coats even if we need to stay inside during the day! Wednesdays we walk to church. Also, if there is an emergency and we need to evacuate the building or walk to another location--coats are necessary.
If your child needs a coat, have them come to the school office. We have had a donation of winter coats and would be happy to find one for them.
In inclement weather, they will have indoor recess: Mon/Tues in their classrooms and Wed/Thur/Fri in the gym.
THURSDAY FOLDER FILE
Here's what is coming home this week:
NO FOLDER-- BUT, REREGISTRATION MATERIALS for the 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR.
If your child does not hand it to you--check backpacks!
Please get reregistration paperwork back as soon as possible. Classrooms will fill-up quickly!
Thank you for the privilege of educating your children!

PLEASE READ BELOW:
ATTENDANCE has been wonderful! NOW, we need to work on chronically being tardy. I will be reaching out to families next week regarding this and to ask how we can help solve this issue together.
Chronic absenteeism is more than 18 days and chronic tardiness if more that 18 times.
