Attendance at ensemble coachings is required. Your ensemble members are depending on you! Please let us know in advance if you will not be able to make your coaching schedule so we can find another time to work with your ensemble.

Some concert band ensembles will meet during class, and are not on the schedule.

Goals for each week:

  • Week of January 5th: Learn all notes, rhythms, through the entire piece on your own
  • Week of January 12th: Practice with your ensemble members to play together, bump tempos closer to performance tempo
  • Week of January 19th: Details, details, details: dynamics, hear the melody, tuning trouble notes, practice starting / stopping together
  • Week of January 26th: UIL Week! Use the feedback from the judge at our Solo and ensemble recital to put finishing touches on your music.

Ensemble Recital Schedule, 1-28-26

Here is a link to the Ensemble Recital schedule for Wenesday, January 28, 2026. The date is changed due to inclement weather on Monday. Click the tab at the bottom that says "recital schedule".

All students will perform at the Pre-UIL Recital.

Attire for the recital is nice clothing. No jeans, no tennis shoes / crocs.

Performance tips:

  • Set up the chairs and stands exactly how you want them in the room.
  • Face the judge, but don't be too close or too far.
  • Play a test note together before you play. It's okay to talk to each other! Say "test note" so someone doesn't accidentally start the ensemble.
