Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

We had another busy week at the Elmore School. It is clear that spring is in the air by the level of energy in the room this week! This week students worked on their final presentations for their Nature Name research and they worked on their creative projects to accompany their research. We continue to work on learning and applying new phonics rules to reading and spelling words, as well as focused reading lessons. During math we are in our final units of the school year with a focus on representing and comparing multi digit numbers using numbers, diagrams, number lines, and expanded form. 3rd graders are learning new algorithms to solve addition with 1,000.

During Eco on Friday, students learned about different types of rock formation and then headed down to the stream to do a rock scavenger hunt and see if the students can find examples of metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary rocks. Thank you to Amber Carbine-March for volunteering her time with the Class!

Our annual Grandparents Breakfast is on Wednesday! Thank you to everyone for signing up to contribute items. We will be spending time on Monday and Tuesday preparing food. Please send the items you signed up to bring on Monday morning.

Thank you to the Leopold family for our delicious Hot Lunch on Monday. School hot lunch will be Monday and Wednesday this week. Please submit your lunch orders by 6 pm on Sunday. Please use the green "School Lunch Orders" button below to submit an email, rather than replying to this post.

Wishing all the moms out there, a very happy Mother's Day!

Have a wonderful week!

In gratitude,

Diane Nicholls

As the honored teacher at the Elmore School I have a passion for helping students be at their best. This is my 6th year at the Elmore School and 18th in the LSSU School Districts. I love teaching at the Elmore School and feel very lucky to be part of the community. I earned my BA in Elementary Education with a certification in Early Childhood Education from Johnson State College, and my MA from the University of Vermont in Curriculum and Instruction.
