District Updates
Week of March 25, 2024
Please vote on Tuesday, April 30th or contact your Town Clerk’s Office to request an absentee ballot to vote early. Visit www.mrpsvt.org/budget to learn more about voting and the new proposed FY`25 school budget.
The MRPS Board of School Directors approved the new FY`25 Budget and Warning on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. You can review budget presentations that began at the 11/1/23 school board meeting and learn about future board meetings by visiting our school budget website.
Vermont is predicting anywhere from 30,000-200,000 additional people to be entering our state on Monday, April 8, 2024. Local emergency officials have recommended we and our fellow Central Vermont schools close. In addition, all of these Central Vermont school districts are already noting significant staff absentee rates in anticipation of April 8th. In light of these strenuous circumstances on both our immediate school systems as well on our state's infrastructure, Montpelier Roxbury School District will be closed on April 8th. Barre, Harwood, and Washington Central are also closing for the day.
The MRPS Board of School Directors formed a new Roxbury Village School Transition Committee. The board is actively seeking community members and students from both towns to serve on this committee. Please visit the committee webpage to learn more.
Please submit letters of interest to serve on the committee by March 31st.
For the 2023-24 school year, all meetings will occur on the third Thursday of each month from noon-1:00. Lunch will be provided. Meetings will be held at Montpelier High School. Remaining meeting dates for the 2023-24 school year are: 4/18, and 5/16.
