GSFE Vision
Green Sea Floyds Elementary is committed to the service of all students. We aspire to empower students to achieve greatness by providing meaningful learning experiences and fostering a family atmosphere that supports the physical, social, and emotional well-being of all students.
Consistency. Connection. Greatness Everyday!
Our school theme this year is Consistency. Connection. Greatness Every Day. These three ideas represent what we believe our students need from all of us—at school and at home—to be successful.
Consistency means children know what to expect. At school, we are working to provide consistent expectations, routines, and high-quality learning experiences every day. Families can help by establishing routines at home, supporting regular attendance and on-time arrival, encouraging good study habits, and reinforcing school expectations.
Connection means every child knows they belong and has people who believe in them. We want our students to feel known, valued, supported, and challenged. Parents are an important part of that connection! Talk with your child about school, celebrate their growth, communicate with their teachers, attend school events, and remind them that their school and family are working together for their success.
When children experience consistency and connection, they are better prepared to learn, grow, take risks, persevere through challenges, and achieve at high levels. That is how we create Greatness Every Day—not through one big moment, but through the small things we consistently do together.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping our Trojans experience Greatness Every Day!
United Way: Ready, Set, Kindergarten Program
Green Sea Floyds Elementary is excited to partner with United Way of Horry County to host Ready, Set, Kindergarten!, a free program specifically designed for children who will enter kindergarten in Fall 2027.
This program is not for students who are currently enrolled in kindergarten. It is an opportunity for our future kindergarteners and their families to get a head start on the transition to school by experiencing the kindergarten environment before their first official day.
During each session, rising kindergarteners will have the opportunity to visit an actual kindergarten classroom, meet a kindergarten teacher, and learn what a typical first day of school will look and feel like. These early experiences can help children become more familiar and comfortable with the school setting while building excitement and confidence about beginning kindergarten.
Parents and caregivers will also receive practical resources to help prepare their child for school. Families will receive a Kindergarten Readiness Checklist and simple activities they can practice together at home. Parents will also learn more about what children need to know and be able to do as they prepare for kindergarten.
Who should attend? Any child who will be starting kindergarten for the first time in Fall 2027 and their parent or caregiver. Your child does not have to be zoned for or planning to attend Green Sea Floyds Elementary. The program is open to rising kindergarteners throughout Horry County, and families may attend the location that is most convenient for them.

All sessions begin at 9:00 AM and last approximately 45–60 minutes.

GSFE Greatness: Dayyan Ahad Earns a Perfect Score on SC Ready
Congratulations to Dayyan Ahad for earning a perfect score on SC Ready Math. This outstanding achievement reflects his hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence. We are incredibly proud of him!
A special congratulations to his teachers, Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Graham, whose high expectations, dedication, and support helped prepare him for this incredible accomplishment.
GSFE Family: First House Meeting Celebration
We had a great time at our first House Meeting of the year! All students who are new to GSFE had the opportunity to spin the wheel and officially join their House family. It was a fun time of cheering, bonding, and building connections across our school.
We also celebrated Team Rêveur, who earned the SC READY Achievement Badges for having the highest percentage of students scoring Meets or Exceeds expectations for ELA, Math, and Science! There are many more badges to earn this year, and we can’t wait to celebrate our students along the way!
We are especially excited about our PTO-sponsored House field trip and the memories our students will make together.
Four Houses. One Family. Greatness Every Day!
Rise with Reading Challenge - Log Your Pages in Beanstack
Horry County Schools Superintendent, Clifford Jones, is once again challenging students to read! If you haven’t already started logging pages on Beanstack, make sure you start soon. For this year’s Superintendent’s Reading Challenge, HCS is partnering with the Bojangles Foundation to bring amazing prizes to our top readers.

GSFE Service: Calling All Rise with Reading Volunteers
We had a great group of volunteers who were willing to serve last year. We need more! At Green Sea Floyds, we believe that reading is the foundation for lifelong learning—and every child deserves the chance to become a confident, joyful reader.
That’s why we’re inviting community volunteers to join us in supporting literacy. When you volunteer to read with a student, you’re not just helping with words on a page—you’re building confidence, connection, and curiosity that can last a lifetime.
📚 Interested in volunteering?
Notify Mrs. Ryan Cox of your interest by emailing rgerald@horrycountyschools.net.
Please visit https://app.sterlingvolunteers.com/en/Candidates/Account/Register to complete a background check. All volunteers must complete a background check through Horry County Schools. The background check is valid for three years.

Jason Morgan Sponsors Fall Windows at GSFE
The GSFE PTO would like to thank Jason Morgan for District 10 for sponsoring our Back-to-School cafeteria windows! These colorful displays welcome students back to school, build Trojan pride, and encourage our little Trojans to Rise with Reading.
Following his swearing-in ceremony in January, Jason will serve as our District 10 representative.
A special thank you also goes to Ms. Milligan, GSFHS art teacher, for beautifully bringing our Back-to-School window display to life. The PTO is excited to partner with the high school Art Department throughout the school year to create our seasonal cafeteria window displays—a wonderful example of Greatness • Service • Family in action!
