Capturing Kids' Hearts - Family Newsletter #2 - September
During the month of September we’re focusing on empathy and challenging students to make sure that everyone they interact with feels seen, heard, and valued. We are partnering with you to grow and develop empathy in your student at home. As a family, use these activities to reflect on and better understand the needs of others.

First Day Assembly - We are EPIC!
.
Every student received a strip (pictured right) with a word and their name on it. It was slightly chaotic, but very powerful, as kids moved around the gym finding people with the 3 other words to connect with.
Teachers then worked with groups to help them create paper chains with their words (Every person is connected.) and a yellow strip with a staff member’s name on it connecting sentences together.
The chain is now up in the cafeteria with kids understanding the symbolism: No one could complete the chain on their own because at Grantham Village School Every Person Is Connected… We are EPIC!
