Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

What an exciting week we have ahead at Van Wert! Dot Day and Homecoming bring creativity, school spirit, and a sense of community to our hallways and playgrounds. I’m grateful for your partnership in helping our students grow, learn, and feel celebrated.

Dot Day invites us to celebrate imagination, collaboration, and every child’s unique voice. Homecoming fosters pride, belonging, and the joy of being part of a caring school family.

What you can expect this week:

  • Student creativity on display: You may see student projects, performances, and gallery walks that showcase our learning across literacy, math, science, and the arts.

  • Community events: Parade (at RHS) and family-friendly activities designed to bring families and staff together in support of our students.

  • Timely communication: We’ll share highlights, photos, and learning outcomes through our newsletters, the school website, and social media.

Here are a few ways that you can support your scholar this week:

  • Encourage reflection: Ask your child about their Dot Day activities and what they learned from collaborating with classmates.

  • Celebrate effort and process: Focus on creativity, teamwork, and perseverance, not just the final product.

  • Foster kindness and inclusion: Model and reinforce inclusive behavior, welcoming all peers and celebrating diverse talents.

Thank you to our teachers, staff, and volunteers for weaving Dot Day creativity and Homecoming spirit into meaningful learning experiences. A big thank you to you, families, for your ongoing partnership and encouragement of your child’s growth.

We’re excited to celebrate together—learning, laughs, and a shared sense of belonging.

With appreciation,

Will Zwingmann, Ed.S.

Principal
