Winter Sports Registration and Required Forms
Winter sports practices begin in on Monday, November 16 and all required forms must be completed for student-athletes to be eligible to participate. If you have not completed these forms yet for the 2026-27 school year please complete with your student-athlete as soon as possible to ensure they are eligible to begin the season.
REQUIRED FORMS (completed once per school year):
Online Forms can be completed at https://yorkathletics.rankonesport.com/New/NewInstructionsPage.aspx
("Proceed to Online Forms" button; choose the following two documents)
a) Athletics Participant Form - HIGH SCHOOL ONLY
b) Emergency Information - HIGH SCHOOL ONLY
PRE-PARTICIPATION PHYSICAL:
Ensure that your child has an active sports physical examination on file with the Athletic Department. Physicals are active for 13 months from the date of the exam. If you have scheduling conflicts and need a provider for a sports physical (not to replace an annual physical with the primary care provider), the York Walk-In Clinic is an available, easy resource to complete this requirement.
Please send physical paperwork to ecastaline@yorkschools.org, fax to 207-351-4001 (this is a YHS Athletics specific fax line; please encourage your provider’s office to use this number), or drop off hardcopy at the YHS front office.
Please contact YHS Director of Athletics & Activities Dave McGuckin (dmcguckin@yorkschools.org) or YHS Athletic Trainer Emily Castaline (ecastaline@yorkschools.org) if you have any questions or need assistance.

When to Keep Your Student Home
We know school attendance is important, but so is not sharing the germs! Please keep your student home if they've had a fever or vomiting within the last 24 hours. When in doubt, you can always check our full attendance guidelines here. A little rest goes a long way!
A Note on Cold and Allergy Meds
My little office cabinet is fully stocked with cough drops, ibuprofen, and acetaminophen for minor aches and pains! However, please remember that I cannot dispense over-the-counter allergy or decongestant medications. If your student needs these, please make sure they take them before coming to school.
The Best Way to Reach Me (I Love Hearing From You!)
Please direct attendance calls (e.g., "My child is staying home today") to the main office. But, if you have any health-specific updates or questions for your student - like a new medication, an injury, or simply a health concern - please call or email me directly at slacroix@yorkschools.org. I'm always happy to help!
Wishing you all a healthy and spirited school year!

College, University & Military Rep Visits at York High School
We are excited to share that representatives from a wide range of colleges, universities, and military branches will be visiting York High School over the coming weeks! This is a fantastic, low-pressure opportunity for juniors and seniors to meet directly with admissions officers and recruiters, ask questions, and explore future pathways.
Who it’s for: Juniors and Seniors
Format: 30-minute small group sessions with the representative and interested peers
Visiting Schools & Branches Include: UMaine, Boston University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Merrimack College, Providence College, Yale University, the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines... and many, many more!
How to sign up: Students must reserve their spot in advance through Naviance by clicking the "what's new" window on the Naviance homepage.
Encourage your student to check Naviance regularly as new institutions and representatives are added to the schedule!
The Student Resource Hub
We have also created a new Student Resource Hub bookmark to make it easier for students to access important digital forms and resources. The Hub includes forms that were previously located in the Front Office Documents folder, including:
- Late Arrival/Early Dismissal Form
- Dance Guest Form
- Extended Absence Form
- And other commonly used student forms and resources
We encourage students to familiarize themselves with the Student Resource Hub, which will provide a convenient, centralized location for accessing these forms throughout the school year.
School Breakfast & Lunch
School meals continue to be available to all students at no charge again this year, regardless of household income. Students are eligible for one breakfast and one lunch. Student lunch schedules will be based on the classes they are in for block 3. Teachers will share lunch information with students on the first day of school.
