Coach's Corner
"David's View"
Learning and Lifting Yourself Up
I recently read a SwimSwam article by Olivier Poirier-LeRoy where he reflected on his age group days and realized how much he learned from the swimmers around him and what you can learn too. The all-time greats that are so amazing it seems almost unattainable, the teammates and competition that you come up against in your day to day life, and most importantly the swimmer in the mirror.
I loved how he recognized the value in each of these swimmers and what you can learn from them to help you help yourself. Seeing what is around you, taking the lessons offered, and making them your own so that you can grow is one of the keys to success in swimming and in life.
You can read Olivier’s SwimSwam article here: https://swimswam.com/the-3-swimmers-you-can-learn-most-from/ I challenge you to take a read and think about the greats you admire and what they do well, the teammates and competition that make you want to achieve more, and the swimmer in the mirror and what you can learn from yourself. Use it to lift yourself up to the next level and to challenge those around you to do the same!

How many swimmers are in NG? 52
What skills are you working on this week? We are working on swimming long in free and back, getting comfortable going to both sides on backstroke flipturns and back/breast turns.
Anita, what's you favorite part of working with NG? I love having fun and screaming for butterfly
Kai, what's your favorite part of work with NG? I love NG because there is still lots of teaching involve. Everyday I get to interact with every swimmer at practice whether that be correcting stroke technique, or hearing about the daily adventures these kids embark on.
What was yesterdays NG word of the day? "Peas" for please
Anita, what's your favorite part about working with Kai? Seeing him jump HIGH
Kai, what's your favorite part about working with Anita? I love working with Anita because she's a fantastic teacher for both the swimmers and me. She has an incredible way of breaking down strokes that not only allows the swimmers to understand what she's looking for but allows me to pick up the smaller technical habits we look for as coaches.
