The Peotone Music Program News

The Peotone Music Program can't wait for another year of building connections, making great music, and creating life long memories! This weekly newsletter is enhance communication with parents, staff, and anyone involved in Peotone School District's Fine Arts !!! These weekly posts (usually on Sundays) will update you on rehearsals, performances, and other important music program news. I hope everyone has had a wonderful summer! Our first Junior High Band and Choir event will take place during Peotone Junior High's Supply Night on Thursday, August 14th, from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. in the Band Room (Room #127). Please note: The date was previously shared as August 12th in error. We apologize for the confusion and appreciate your understanding.

This is an optional event for families and students to hear about the direction and expectations for next year, hear about the new improvements we have made over the summer, and ask any questions you may have. If you are unable to make it, we will be attaching a presentation it to future newsletters and papers sent home so you can get all the information you would need. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and hope to see some of you there!

The Marching Blue Devils are back!!! From July 28th - August 1st High School and 8th Grade Band members rehearsed at Peotone Junior High to put together their new show: Shades of the Sixties. This exciting show features some classic 60s songs including Twist and Shout, Sweet Caroline, and the Peotone Classic: Devil with the Blue Dress. A huge thank you to Angie McCann, Mr. Stefans, and all the wonderful parents who helped to make this week possible. Please come out to their first performance on September 26th to see this awesome group perform!!!

This year I’m aiming to keep Marching Band practices limited, knowing students are involved in many other activities. The goal is to meet just once a week. Based on student feedback, Mondays or Thursdays from 6–8 p.m. seem to work best for most.

I understand there may still be scheduling conflicts. If this time doesn’t work for your student, please reach out so I can make the most informed decision when choosing a day that works best for the group. Our first rehearsal will be either August 25th or 28th, and weekly practices will continue only through the end of the regular football season in October.

Additionally, just a reminder that the only cost to students this year are the Blue Peotone Marching Shirt and Shoes. The links are provided below:

This special day includes all students in the PJHS 6th Grade Choir, PJHS 7th and 8th Grade Choir, PHS Varsity Choir, and Powerhouse Show Choir

Start and end time will be announced soon! The Retreat will be held off-campus.
