PBIS Myth

Behaviorism ignores emotions, relationships, and trauma.
Fact icon
zoom_out_map

PBIS FACT

Modern PBIS frameworks explicitly incorporate relationship-building, trauma-informed practices, and social-emotional learning. Effective implementation includes:

  • Strong adult-student relationships
  • Regulation strategies
  • Co-regulation and restorative practices
  • Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports for students with complex needs

Behavior science does not deny emotion; it recognizes that behavior is influenced by environmental conditions, including relationships and safety.
