BCE Fall Food Drive
PTA is sponsoring a food drive for the Backpack Society November 9th-13th. Please refer to the flyers to learn more about the Backpack Society's mission and what items are assigned to each grade. Collection bins will be placed outside classroom pods and students can drop off items up until the morning of the 13th. Our goal is to exceed last year's amount of 864 pounds collected, reaching 1,000 pounds!
BCE Garden: let’s dig in! Thanks to our amazing community and volunteers, we have continued to grow and donate a bounty of fresh produce for the Backpack Society. You rock!
Now, the BCE Garden Committee needs a few extra hands to keep the momentum going. Here’s how you can help:
Sign up for a garden clean-up workday | Sunday, Nov. 1 (1:30–2:30 p.m.):
Help us tuck the garden in for winter! We’ll be clearing out raised beds, topping them off with soil and compost, and doing a bit of light maintenance. This prep work will help set our students up for success when they plant spring bulbs!
Sign up for bulb planting with students | Friday, Nov. 13: Help our kids plant tulip bulbs so we can enjoy a burst of spring color next year! Shifts are just 20 minutes long (timed to each grade’s recess schedule), and no gardening experience is needed!
Quick heads-up: Bulb planting is an optional recess activity, so it’s possible not every student or class will participate. If you’re hoping to dig in alongside your child, chat with them beforehand so they know to join in the garden during recess when it is offered!
Golden Guest Before School Event
Bear Canyon is inviting students to have a "Golden Guest" (think grandparent or other trusted older adult) of their choice bring them to school on Thursday, November 19, 2026.
Golden Guests are welcome to come to the gym at 8:10 AM for some coffee and a donut. When the 8:30am bell rings, students will hug their guests goodbye and head to classrooms to begin their day of learning. Because of security logistics, golden guests are only invited into the gym. This is just a fun way for the special golden individuals in your student's life to have a sweet start to the day.
Please let us know if your golden guest would like to attend here (free of cost): https://golden-guest-rsvp-2026.cheddarup.com/
Fastpasses
CONGRATULATIONS to our Energy Bus FastPass Recipients: FastPass students are nominated by a teacher or staff member for exceptional demonstration of one or more of our Energy Bus principles. This is a special privilege for students who are going above and beyond to show that they are leaders and are "Being the Driver'' of their own bus. FastPass recipients have their picture taken with either Mrs. Sullivan or Mrs. Bower, receive a certificate and get to choose a special prize. Nominations will continue so watch for future recipients as well! Congratulations to our most recent FastPass winners:
THEO
Theo is always kind to my SSN student, every day at lunch he sits near him and tries to have conversations with him. At recess, he asked to play with him today and they had so much fun playing together! Theo, thanks for being kind to others and never giving up on friendship! ~Ms. Julie
