Empathy and Engagement
Panther of the Week
Raquel Martell
From Ms. Pena:
Raquel is an absolute rock star teacher, but she is also such a beacon of light. She goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome, point them in the right direction, and always takes the time to celebrate the achievements of her colleagues. We are so lucky to have her!
Thank you Raquel for ALL that you do.
Come see me for your gift card!
PPO Thursday, April 10th
We'll have our second PPO this week, again at Gotham, as the superintendency wants to observe their suggested feedback in action. Think of this as MY second formal of the year. I'll spend the week preparing, and might reach out to some of you about programs you help champion. This should be business as usual- great instruction, student engagement, and organized, effective classrooms.
Thanks in advance for your support- I appreciate it, and all of you.
National Assistant Principal Week
As we recognize National Assistant Principals Week, I want to take a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on some of the most vital members of our school community—our Assistant Principals: Jeannine, Pierce, Tenia, and Kadyn.
In every corner of our building, and often behind the scenes, our APs serve as the backbone of our school. They are the silent heroes, the steady hands and open hearts who ensure that both our students and staff feel supported, safe, and seen.
They are coaches, confidants, and crisis managers. Whether it’s offering advice, lending a listening ear, supporting students through tough moments, or championing teacher growth, our assistant principals are always there—present, prepared, and powerful in their impact.
APs are the ones who:
-
Change diapers and mop classrooms without hesitation.
-
Lead PLCs, observe instruction, and give meaningful feedback to support teacher development.
-
Call families with care, empathy, and clarity.
-
Run after-school and Saturday programs to give our students even more opportunities to grow.
-
Coordinate complex moves when construction forces us to shift spaces.
-
Stand at the forefront when student safety is at risk.
-
Engage in the hardest conversations with grace and professionalism.
-
And most of all, they love our students deeply and unconditionally.
Please join me this week in celebrating Jeannine, Pierce, Tenia, and Kadyn. Let’s flood their inboxes, shout them out in meetings, and make sure they know just how much they mean to our community.
