Motivational Message
From the desk of Dr. Davis
Panther Pride,
As we conclude Week 25 of the school year, I want to extend my appreciation to our incredible students, parents/guardians, and the supportive community. It's evident that our students are putting in tremendous effort and focus to finish the school year strong.
In this digital age, I'd also like to take a moment to emphasize the importance of responsible and thoughtful use of social media. Social platforms provide unique opportunities for connection and expression, but it's crucial for our students to make good decisions online. Let's encourage positive digital citizenship and empower our students to use social media responsibly.
Thank you for your continued dedication and partnership in fostering a positive and nurturing environment for our students. Together, we can make a lasting impact on their academic journey.
Thank you for being an essential part of our cohesive and supportive school community! I encourage you to thoroughly read all the information in the newsletter, to become and remain informed of everything that is going on with the Pride. #ThriveWithPride.

Did you know this was created by a Black Inventor???
Mailbox- Phillip Downing
In most cities, you will find a mailbox similar to the on in the picture. Well, you can thank Mr. Downing for this invention. Before he created the "street letter box", those wishing to send mail usually had to travel to the post office. Thank you, Mr. Downing for your contribution.
Traffic Lights- Garrett Morgan
As you are cruising in your car and encounter a read light. Please thank Mr. Morgan for creating this invention. The traffic light started as a T-Shaped pole unit that featured three positions: stop, go, and all directional stop. Mr. Morgan sold his rights to his traffic signal to the General Electric Corporation for $40,000. Thank you Mr. Garrett Morgan for keeping us safe.
Clothes Dryer- George T. Sampson
Sampson developed the first automatic clothes dryer that used a series of suspension rods over a specifically designed stove to dry clothes. His design was used up until the late 1930s when the use of gas and electric dryers began.
Prior to his invention, clothes were hung over the top of an open flame but often left clothing with the smell of smoke.

Aeries Support
Parents, if you want access to your students grades, attendance, and more, contact our registrar at jcampos@texanscan.org. We will use this data to drive our instruction, provide feedback to student learning, and track progress towards graduation. Please ensure you are at school, on-time, daily and engaged in class. I encourage all Panthers to track their progress and meet with their student advisor if you need additional support.
Campus Attendance
This week we ended with 177 students present out of 228 or 78% of our students. Remember, after the 5 absence of any class, your student will absent-fail the course. Absent-fail means the student will not receive credit for the course and have to repeat the course for credit. With graduation being the ultimate goal, we want to ensure our students are at school and in-class on time, engaged in learning. Parents, we need your support with this. You can check your students attendance on Aeries via the parent portal. Here's the link.
After-school tutoring
The state of Texas has passed House Bill 1416 which takes place of House Bill 4545. This house bill states any student who failed STAAR grades 3-8 or EOC will receive supplemental academic intervention before, during, or after-school through tutorials. These students are required to complete 15-30 documented hours of tutoring. For TCA, these hours are determined by your students STAAR and EOC scores in Math and English. If you've received documentation outlining tutorials, your student has the opportunity to participate in tutorials Monday - Thursday from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Please make arrangements to support your scholar in their academic success.
