BE EPICER @ CTE
At Cherokee Trail we focus on six traits, teaching and fostering them in our classrooms and school-wide in order to create learners who are strong academically and socially.
They are:
ENTHUSIASM * PERSEVERANCE * INTEGRITY * COURAGE * EMPATHY * RESPECT
Read more on the EPICER page!
In MAY we will be reviewing ALL of the EPICER traits, and considering how we can use them both in school and at home.
CTE SERVICE DAY on Tueseday was a great success! Every classroom showcased their EPICER'ness and all of the traits we've explored throughout the year to be of service to others.
Some tidied outside the school by picking up trash, raking pine needles, weeding, and organizing the landscaping rocks. Other classes buddied up to do reading time. Still others chose to make pet enrichment toys for the shelter cats & dogs at Humane Colorado's [formery Dumb Friend's League] Buddy Center.
Great job Stallions! You're all EPICER!!

THE PRINCIPAL CHRONICLES
The Principal Chronicles continue ...
As I write this, there are 17 total days left of the school year. I was just sitting here thinking that I do not have too many more issues left of The Chronicles. I have been writing the Chronicles every week for 12 years and I am getting down to my last few. It is kind of a really strange thought. I originally started The Principal Chronicles to jot down my thoughts as a brand new principal learning on the job here at Cherokee Trail. Over time, it morphed into a little bit about my own life and a little bit about what is going on at school. I have had my yearly Outdoor Ed episode, my Field Day episode, my Thanksgiving episode, and so on. So many memories tied up in one silly blog.
On a different note, I was completely not expecting the outpouring of sadness around me leaving. I honestly thought it would not be a big deal and the students would be happy to have a new principal come into the building and add some new life and perspective. Instead, the students have been extremely sad, and there has not been a single day that has gone by where the students haven't asked me to stay. It literally breaks my heart each and every time. I love our students so very much as well as our staff and community. I have been extremely lucky to be a part of this school. These next few weeks are going to be emotionally tough.
On the home front, my one and only moved home last week. She stayed the weekend at her mom's house and came back to my house yesterday. She arrived at my house at roughly 12:30 PM and within 4 minutes of her arrival, she texted me that there wasn't any food for her to eat at my house. This statement was made 48 hours after I spent about $300 on food for her to eat, which included $0 of food that I will actually eat. I responded to tell her that there was plenty of food in there for her to eat but she said that there wasn't stuff to make a Caesar salad. How silly of me not to read her mind and know that she wanted stuff to make a Caesar salad. This statement was also coming from a person who hasn't eaten a vegetable since 2014.
If that wasn't amazing enough, when I arrived home at 5:45 PM, her room was trashed, the sheets I had in the dryer were on the floor, and she was eating (yes a Caesar salad) on the couch with only about 1/8 of the cheese she put on it actually making it into her mouth. Did I get a "welcome home"? Nope, I got a "Bruh, why are you home so late?" That statement was followed by "I'm going to play pickleball." From there, she left, leaving said Caesar salad on the couch, clothes in the dryer, and junk all over the floor. So glad she is home.
That is it for this week's episode, stay tuned for next week when the Principal Chronicles continue ....
