Serving on the SGC is a two‑year commitment, and members typically spend about 1-2 hours per month supporting school initiatives through meetings, trainings, and events. The SGC plays an important role in shaping our school’s strategic direction and supporting decisions that impact our students, staff, and community. Parents interested in declaring candidacy may visit the SGC Elections website between February 2 and March 27 to submit their declaration. FCS Safety Priorities
Safety Update for Our Families
Beginning this week, our superintendent has introduced a new Safety Section in his weekly Friday communication. We want to share these expectations with you so our entire school community—staff, students, and families—remains informed and aligned.
Our Commitment to Readiness
The district continues to evaluate how prepared we are to respond to a major crisis. While we have strong systems in place, our superintendent has emphasized that there is still important work to do. District leaders have been charged with strengthening our processes for emergency preparation, response, and communication so that we can keep every student and staff member safe.
Badge Requirements for All Employees
To ensure a secure environment:
- All employees must wear their Centegix Alert Badge and district Employee ID while on school property.
- Badges must be worn on a lanyard or positioned above the waist, clearly visible and easy to access at all times.
- School‑purchased lanyards are allowed, and district‑provided lanyards are available for staff who need them.
These expectations help us ensure that only authorized personnel are present on campus at all times.
Reducing Accidental Alerts
Families should also be aware that the Centegix safety system our staff uses includes a badge with emergency alert functions. To maintain the accuracy and effectiveness of this system, staff are being reminded to avoid accidental activation:
- Pressing the button three times is used for urgent but non‑life‑threatening situations, such as medical needs or altercations.
- Repeatedly pressing the button triggers a hard lockdown, which results in an immediate and significant response from district leaders and law enforcement.
Reducing accidental alerts ensures that when we do call for help, the response is swift, appropriate, and fully focused.
WCES Carpool Update:
Introducing Our New Traffic Officer & Important Arrival Reminders
We are pleased to announce that Officer Patrick Carroll has joined Wilson Creek Elementary as our new traffic officer. He began his role last week, and we are excited to welcome him to our campus. We appreciate Officer Carroll’s partnership in helping keep our students and families safe during arrival and dismissal.
Morning Traffic Reminders
To maintain a safe and efficient arrival process, please remember the following procedures:
Traffic Flow
- After 7:10 AM, drivers traveling from Medlock Bridge Road may not make a left turn into the school.
- U‑turns are not permitted at any time during morning arrival.
These rules help maintain a steady traffic pattern and protect the safety of all students and families.
Family Expectations
We kindly ask all families to:
- Follow the established traffic pattern
- Remain patient and courteous with other drivers
- Follow staff directions during morning arrival
Consider Bus Transportation
To help reduce congestion, we strongly encourage families to use bus transportation whenever possible. Increased bus ridership significantly decreases delays and enhances overall campus safety.
Thank you for your cooperation and for supporting a safe, smooth, and predictable arrival process for our students each morning. If you have questions or need assistance, please reach out to our front office.

STEM DAY – Note of thanks!
Our STEM Day on Friday, February 27th was an incredible success, and we couldn’t be more proud of the excitement, curiosity, and engagement we saw throughout the building. Students spent the day diving into hands-on, minds-on learning experiences that sparked creativity, collaboration, and problem‑solving in all grade levels.
A huge thank you to our amazing parents and guardians for your continued support. Your encouragement helps make special days like this possible for our students.
We are especially grateful to the talented Innovation Academy students, who volunteered their time to lead engaging STEM activities. Their leadership, enthusiasm, and passion for learning truly inspired our students.
We also want to recognize our dedicated staff members, who worked tirelessly to plan and facilitate meaningful learning experiences. Their commitment to providing innovative and joyful learning opportunities for every student made the day unforgettable.
And of course, a big shout‑out to our wonderful PTO for providing a delicious Jet’s Pizza lunch for our staff. Your generosity and partnership help fuel both our bodies and our mission!
Thank you to everyone who helped make STEM Day a memorable celebration of learning, creativity, and exploration. We look forward to continuing these opportunities for our students to discover, wonder, and grow!
Attendance Matters ALL DAY, EVERYDAY
TAKE ATTENDANCE SERIOUSLY
It’s common for students to experience a significant increase in chronic absenteeism during the winter months due to an increase in typical illnesses. If your child must be absent due to illness, please email WCESResidency@fultonschools.org, your child’s (1) legal first and last name, (2) teacher’s name, (3) all the dates your child was absent, and the (4) reason for missing school. Please also copy your child's homeroom teacher on the email. It is important to include a photo or scanned image of the doctor’s note, if you take your child to be seen. If your child is missing a lot of school due to illness, please reach out to our clinic assistant, Ms. Ankita Doshi, for guidance. Chronic absenteeism occurs when students miss 10% or more of school for any reason.
Additionally, it's important that kids arrive to school on time every day. Please remember that our car rider line can back up closer to 7:30. Consider being in line closer to 7:10 or by having your child ride the school bus to prevent tardies.
Help Your Child Succeed in School: Build the Habit of Good Attendance! School success goes hand in hand with good attendance!
