Hello, Hawks:

Today is definitely up there as one of my proudest as principal of Hockinson High School...and there is lots to be proud of!

It is World Down Syndrome Day and our students put on a great presentation. Our entire student body was present - the attention and respect they gave was incredible. I can't even express how impressed I am of our presenters and students. Great job Hawks! Be proud of our kids!

Spring is testing season in high school with state tests and Advanced Placement testing. So here's a fact I ran across today. In the spring of 2022 (my first year at HHS), there were 55 AP tests taken. This year? That number is at 169. Be proud of our kids!

And we're only getting started.

This year, we have 14 9th Graders in AP Human Geography. Next year, we have 25 9th Graders already signed up. Be proud of our kids!

Hawks are inclusive, hard working, and caring kids! I can't believe I get to be their principal.

Graduation is quickly approaching (too quickly)… We have many things to communicate regarding our Seniors so please take a minute to read through this email and continue to keep an eye out as there will be more to come. We are looking for a few things from you!

• Pictures for Senior slide show needed by 3/31– further communication below
• Baccalaureate survey needed. The committee is looking for feedback about what the students would like to see, please use this link to complete the survey: (due by 2/23)

• Chaperones needed for grad night event – if you would like to sign up please email hhsgrads2025@gmail.com with your name, phone number, and email address.
• This will run from the time graduation is over until around 4AM
• Chaperones have a number of duties - including but not limited to - bus check in and out, watching a particular area at the event (rotating positions), clean up at the end of the night, prize hand out, etc. etc. (You do not have to ride the bus)
• Reminder – yearbook pictures are due by 3/1 to the school (just a helpful reminder – this is not affiliated with the grad committee)

SENIOR SLIDE SHOW COMMUNICATION:

Hello families of Seniors,

As we begin this final stretch to graduation, we are in the process of producing the Senior Slideshow. Our goal is to make sure every senior is represented and that the effort of creating the slideshow goes as smoothly as possible. Here is what we need from you.

1. Click the link below.

(You will need a Google account to fill in the form. If you don't have one, you can create one. You can also use the Google account of your senior. If you do not have a Google account and would prefer not to create one, please email us directly and we will do what we can to get the information needed in a different way.)

2. Fill in your senior's preferred first name.

3. Fill in your senior's last name.

4. Upload 3 photos: a young photo, a senior photo and a favorite photo.

5. (optional) Tell us a fun fact or skill your senior has that others may not know about. Be aware, this may be posted on one of their photos in the slideshow.

6. Click submit

That is all we need from you, and we will do the rest!

In order to be included in the slideshow, please complete and submit this form no later than March 31st, 2025. Anything submitted after March 31st may not make it into the slideshow.

Here's a new feature of the Scoop. We will be recognizing various staff members. This week, it's Mrs. Leslie Pershall. Not only does Mrs. Pershall teach Health and PE, she is our ASB Advisor, and a Hawk grad!
