Randall Family Weekly Update - Week 8
Dear Randall Families,
Volunteering
We deeply appreciate all of our parent and guardian volunteers who give their time to support our students, classrooms, and school events! To help us maintain a safe environment for every student and ensure compliance with new Wisconsin state legislation (Act 89), we have updated our volunteer approval process for this school year:
1. Background Check: As in previous years, all volunteers must have an approved background check through our Raptor security system.
2. DPI's Act 89 Training: In addition to the Raptor background check, parents and guardians wishing to volunteer are now required to complete the Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) Act 89 Training. This is a 20-minute online module focused on recognizing and preventing grooming and boundary violations.
Submitting Your Certificate: Once you complete the online training, please email your certificate of completion to our Pupil Services Director, Morgan Moczynski, at mmoczynski@randall.k12.wi.us.Thank you for your cooperation and continued partnership as we work together to keep our students safe and adhere to state guidelines. If you have any questions regarding the new training or the volunteer application process, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Moczynski at mmoczynski@randall.k12.wi.us or 262-537-2211 x1308 or check out our volunteering webpage on our Randall Website.
Eye Exams & Glasses
Does your child need an eye exam or need a new pair of glasses? The Wisconsin Lions Foundation, in partnership with the Shopko Optical Kids in Focus Program, has vouchers available for students in need of an eye exam and a pair of glasses, if appropriate, for free. These vouchers must be used by the end of the calendar year.
The vouchers are intended for students who:
- Do not have vision insurance
- Do not have BadgerCare Plus
- Have been identified as having vision concerns that warrant an eye examination
- The family does not have the means to pay for the eye examination
If interested, please email our school Nurse Mrs. Klabunde (nurse@randall.k12.wi.us) and she can connect you to the program!

Week 8 Highlights
- Wheel of Wonder Winners - Our first winner is a 5Ker Mason W. Mason has been participating in class and always trying his best. Our second winner is Robert W. He is an amazing fourth grader. He is an excellent role model for the other students and he gives 100% effort throughout the school day. And we have a third winner this week who is 7th grader Hailee D. She's been showing incredible perseverance. Her positive attitude and determination to dig deeper and keep trying have been wonderful to watch in math. Congratulations to our winners and please stop down at the office to spin the prize wheel.
- RICHARDSONS! 6th - 8th Grade Field Trip
- The 8th gr. Medical Detectives class recently learned how to properly plate & grow bacteria! Students used sterile, aeseptic techniques, as well as various personal protective equipment, to properly handle materials during the lab. After 48 hours of growth, the results were in! Students determined that of the three different antibiotics tested, tetracycline would be the best treatment for their hypothetical patient with pneumococcal pneumonia. Great job 8th graders!
Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall
Randall School is pleased to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT confidential tipline as part of our school safety efforts. Tiplines are used to identify threats to schools, and for concerns impacting school age youth such as bullying, drug use, suicidal thoughts and more. Schools that promote and use tiplines have less violence overall. The SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) tipline is run by the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Office of School Safety. Parents and students, this tool is available for anyone to use to help keep the Randall Community safe!
Randall students will engage in learning about how to advocate for their own (and others') safety and well-being over the next month in partnership with our counselor, Mrs. Roth, as well as other members of our student services team. We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of communicating when/if they feel that their safety may be compromised.
Here is a LINK to an informational flyer about Speak Up Speak Out.
Thank you in advance for all of your support!
