Future Ready Classrooms:

It has been reported to us that we will receive our new furniture October 21st. Please be prepared as this process continues.

Safety Videos - Final Notice! All video assessments are due by October 18th.

Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thank you for your commitment and dedication in meeting with our students' families. Building these relationships is invaluable as we strive for each child to design their future!!

Hall Displays: Please update or begin placing student writing in page protectors in hallways. For those of you who have started this procedure, thank you. Remember, we value process over product. Grade level math walls also need to be on display at this time. As a gentle reminder, standards and or a simple description of the learning should be displayed as well.

TimeClock Plus:

Support staff, please adhere to the email sent by Amanda Ryan

Dismissal Procedures:

Please remember that bus dismissal should be at level 0. Teachers should place themselves strategically throughout the line and main hallway. We have had a few incidences where unsupervised students have made poor choices. We need all eyes vigilant.

Knoll Nonsense: We are off to a good start! It's clear that the teachers and staff at the Knoll like to have fun! The current team standings are as follows: 4th and 5th Grade are tied for first with 2100 points, 3rd grade is in second place with 1600 points and 2nd grade is in third place with 1300 points. We have several others "on the board" and a few who have not gotten started...yet! There is still plenty of time! All activities will be available all school year. Be on the lookout for additional activities to post this weekend. It's not too late to join the Facebook Group as well and see all the "nonsense" going on a the Knoll. Counselors' Corner

Counselors Corner

Dear Teachers,

The school counselors wanted to reiterate the importance of referring students so that we can get them the most appropriate services. This especially hit home to us in our Collaborative Conversation and the scenarios we discussed.

Also, it's going to be a long week next week. DON'T FORGET ABOUT SELF-CARE! In fact, here are some great strategies and techniques to remember. JUST FOR YOU!!!

https://blissfullybrunette.com/self-care-challenge-week-1/

Also, please fill out this short google form so we can better serve you!

Math

The "This or That?" strategy is an option you may consider using during your number sense routines. Here is a video you demonstrating the strategy:

This or That

This strategy can help you work on estimating and comparing. Students are also given the opportunity to reason about strategies they are using. Here are some examples you could use to get you started.

This or That Examples

You can download this file and edit numbers to fit what you are doing in your class. It is just one more idea for changing around your number sense routine time and keeping those students discussing their mathematical thinking.

This idea was taken from the book, Daily Routines to Jump-Start Math Class by John Sangiovanni.

Hello! We will have our first CONNECT meeting on Wednesday during your planning time in room 313. This is a time for classroom teachers to meet with interventionist to discuss our striving readers and their progress thus far in school. Please bring your conferring notes, latest reading record, etc. and be prepared to speak to the reading behaviors that you are seeing in your striving readers. Interventionist will not see our RTI friends on Wednesday. We are looking forward to our time together!
