Literacy: cause and effect in informational texts, figurative language, text organization (beginning, middle, end), grammar skill: action verbs.

Math: geometry, three-dimensional shapes, fractions (halves, fourths and sixths)

Inquiry & Innovation: structure and functions, parts of a plant, basic needs of a plant, plant package project.

We have started our Plant Package project in I&I and soon we will need a little help to make the project successful.

Materials we need:

• empty 2-liter plastic bottles
• empty half-gallon juice cartons (about 10 per class)
• 3 small plant flats (12-24+ pack)

When we need it:

• By March 18th the latest (can start sending in next week, 3/4-3/8)

We are thrilled to inform you that Plano ISD is preparing for an extraordinary educational event - the Great American Eclipse of 2024! On April 8th, 2024, Dallas, Texas, and the surrounding metroplex will experience a total solar eclipse, which happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event for our students, as there is not predicted to be another total solar eclipse in this area until after the year 2251!

In anticipation of the total solar eclipse, Plano ISD will be providing NASA-approved solar eclipse glasses for all kindergarten through 12th-grade students to allow them to safely experience this unique and spectacular phenomenon.

If you do not want your child to go outside to view the eclipse, please complete and sign this opt-out form and return it to your school’s principal by March 28, 2024.
