GSA Middle School
Dear GSA Families,
As we settle into the school year, we want to remind everyone of the proper drop-off and pick-up procedures to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow:
-
Pull all the way up when dropping off or picking up your student.
-
Do not block Rhodes Avenue. If you are unable to pull into the school parking lot, please find parking on permitted public streets or clear the lane to keep traffic moving.
-
Do not park in business parking lots or private parking spots. These areas are not designated for school use.
-
Please remind students to use crossing guards and crosswalks when crossing streets for their safety.
We’d also like to kindly remind families that if you call the office and your call is not answered, please be sure to leave a voicemail with your student’s name and the reason for your call. Our office experiences a high volume of calls throughout the school day, and this helps us return your call as quickly as possible.
You may also email the front office at officemiddle@gsastl.org for another convenient way to reach us.
Thank you.
🧪🔬🔭Science Fair work is beginning! 🧪🔬🔭
All students in Honors classes are required to complete their own science fair projects. Students in other classes will be doing a class project, but can participate in the Science Fair as well if they would like to participate with their own project. The deadlines for each step have been shared with students. Please ask your student to show you the information given in class. It is on Schoology. Students are given every Wednesday in class to work on the class project, led by the teacher or given independent time in Honors class.
The Annual Gateway Science Academy Science Fair is on Wednesday, December 10 in the gym at 1:30. If you are chosen to participate you will stay after school and display your board and be interviewed by judges. About 35 from each grade level will be chosen to participate. Special Note: Please understand, not everyone will be given a board, only the chosen students at each grade level. We have so many more students that the elementary schools, working off Google Slides is more practical for everyone, while utilizing the science fair boards for the finalists.
If you have questions, please email your science teacher. Email addresses are listed below:
tmartin@gsastl.org - 6th grade
gtrendle@gsastl.org - 7th grade
egokgoz@gsastl.org - 8th grade

👕 $3 Dress Down Friday September 12 👕
Mrs. Taylor will be selling the FULL YEAR dress down passes starting Monday, September 8, for $20! This is a $7 discount if you purchase it now as opposed to paying for each day individually. We do not accept card or phone app payments at this time.
Your student should go to Mrs. Taylor's office to purchase their full year band during morning arrival or afternoon dismissal (2nd floor across from the copy machine). Your student's name will be added to a list of those who have paid for a year pass, so don't sweat it if they lose it. Otherwise, your student can purchase a band on the day of the dress down day for $3. All proceeds get funneled right back into the middle school and are used to purchase things for special occasions, personal needs items and prizes throughout the school year.
Please reach out to Mrs. Taylor (ataylor@gsastl.org) or Ms. Barber (kbarber@gsastl.org) if you have any questions.
