Clubs (Grades 6-12)
Starting a New Club?
If you are looking to start a club, check out the Club Leader Orientation and fill out the Club Application Form. Forms are due this Friday, Sept. 5th. The Club Fair will be held September 9-11 during lunch.
Club Fair - Coming Next Week!
The school year has ignited with an electrifying energy! Club fair is next week, September 9th-11th at lunch. Students are invited to the auditorium to check out the many clubs that MEA has to offer. Grab some popcorn and a drink, visit with classmates, and check out the many clubs showcased at the event! This is an excellent way to get involved on campus and meet other MEA students that share your interests. See you there!
For more information about the club fair, and to preview available clubs , check out the MEA Clubs Link.
Coop Group
Calling all students grades 6-12 who are passionate about animals, ecology, birds, or just want to have a fun time! Coop Group leads the upkeep of our resident hen Cleopatra’s enclosure and coop area. Although she is six years old now and not laying eggs anymore, Cleo still appreciates the care and attention she receives from students. It's also a great way to make friends and learn some interesting things about chicken husbandry and general animal care, along with some fun bird trivia! Come join us! Coop Group meets every Tuesday, from 8:30 to 9 am, outside the chicken coop by Room 14 (Science Lab).
PALS is now BASE Camp!
Our tutoring center/study hall formerly known as PALS has gotten a glow up and a new name! BASE Camp is a great place for:
- students to receive tutoring from older students
- students to work on group/collaborative projects
- students to work on their own or with a friend
BASE Camp will begin this week on Wednesday Aug. 27 in the auditorium and will be available:
- Wednesdays 12:30-2:30
- Thursdays 9:30 - 11:30
- Fridays 9-11:30
Parents/Guardians of students in grades K-5 should complete the CHECK-IN form when signing your student in at BASE Camp so tutors can best support your student.
Are you in grade 9-12 and interested in being a tutor and have not been trained? Please see Ms. Starr and let her know or email her at vstarr@sandi.net. A tutor training will be scheduled soon!
For more information about BASE Camp, check out the BASE Camp website.
Spring Trip to Europe
We're excited to announce that Mr. Spiegelberg will be leading a group of students on a once‐in‐a‐lifetime educational tour to Switzerland, Bavaria & Austria in the spring of 2026. This trip offers a wealth of opportunities for learning outside the classroom and personal growth. Please go to the following website to see trip information, itinerary details, and to enroll for our trip.
To help in our planning, please RSVP.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out dspiegelberg@sandi.net
Attention Students Taking Community College Classes Concurrently
If you are enrolled concurrently in a community college class at City, Mesa, or Miramar that is NOT through us, please complete this form so I can put it on your schedule. This does not include ACP courses (Math 150, 254, Poli Sci 101), as they are already on your schedule. This allows the grade to transfer automatically and avoids you having to request an official transcript later. If you do not fill this out, you will need to ask the college to send us an official transcript, which may result in a fee. Please email arubin@sandi.net if you have any questions regarding this.
You will know this has been processed when the course appears on your PowerSchool schedule.
Enrichment Classes
Elementary PE (Grades 2-5)
We are thrilled to offer an elementary level physical education class again this year! Whether you are a student eager to stay active with classmates and friends, looking for a safe way to learn a new sport, and/or looking to have some fun, MEA PE is the class for you!
PE Enrichment is not just about physical activity, it's about fostering a lifelong love for movement, teamwork, and healthy living. Our mission is to create an environment where every student can thrive physically, socially, and mentally. For more information and how to sign up see the MEA 2-5 site here.
Music with Mr. Johnson (K-8)

Drop off/ Pick Up/Parking Procedures
Thank you in advance for helping to create a safe and welcoming campus for all of our students and families.
Elementary (Grades K-5)
Parents just dropping off/picking up and not staying on campus should park in the back lot by the elementary classes and sign their child in with supervising staff. Parents staying on campus should park in the front lot or on Mt. Etna, enter through the front office, and sign in and retrieve a visitor pass.
Secondary (Grades 6-12)
Secondary parents should drop/pick up in the front lot or sign in at the front office if they are staying on campus. Please do not block parking spaces while dropping off/picking up. Instead, please park in a space in the lot or on Mt. Etna.

San Diego Museum of Art "Family Art Adventures"
The San Diego Museum of Art reached out to us to invite us to their "Family Art Adventures" which are dynamic free guided tours specially designed for families with school-aged children ages 5 to 12. Tours are offered the first and third Saturdays of each month at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Family tour themes change monthly, and each family tour is followed by a hands-on art-making activity. All materials are provided. Free with Museum admission. Please see the SDMA website for more information and to RSVP.
MEA Meetup: Legoland Sept. 12
We have helped secure discounted tickets for MEA students and their families to visit Legoland on Friday, September 12, 2025. Student/child tickets are $19 each and adult tickets are $39. The first (up to 10) adult tickets purchased will also include free parking. Otherwise, parking is not included. This is not a school sponsored field trip- MEA will not be providing transportation or supervision of students, but we hope the MEA community will take advantage of the discounted price and enjoy some time and fun together! All students must be supervised by a parent or another adult. The last day to purchase tickets at the discounted rate is Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025. To purchase tickets, go to SDUSD School Cash. (If the link does not take you directly to Legoland tickets options, search for Legoland, and the two ticket options from MEA should appear.)
Free Family Safety Days
This September, check out free Family Safety Days in Mission Valley on Sept. 6th and La Mesa on Sept. 13. Meet first responders, explore hands-on demonstrations, pick up helpful safety tips and resources, and learn about public service careers. Bring the family and connect with community as we work together to stay safe, prepared, and informed!
Connect and MOVE Bulletin
If you are seeking opportunities to connect, engage, and with other families in the MEA Community, we invite you to explore the private electronic bulletin board. We encourage you to share any local activities or events that you and fellow MEA students and families may enjoy together. Please note that these activities are not sponsored by Mt. Everest Academy.
Please send any information for the Monday Message using the Google form by end of day Thursday for upcoming message.
