Homyak Family Newsletter
Volume 2, Issue 8: September 28th - October 4th
Principal's Message
Dear Homyak Families,
It’s hard to believe we are already wrapping up September and getting ready to welcome October! I want to congratulate all of our September Student of the Month award recipients. We are incredibly proud of these Huskies for demonstrating positive character, hard work, and leadership throughout our school community.
I also want to give a huge shout-out to all of our students, staff, and families who joined us for the Homecoming Parade! It was wonderful to see so many members of the Homyak community come together and show their Husky pride. Our students did an outstanding job following expectations throughout the parade and representing Homyak in such a positive way, great work, Huskies! We also want to congratulate Fort Lupton High School varsity football team on their 35-30 Homecoming game win over Englewood!
As we begin a new month, I encourage our students and families to use this as an opportunity to set new goals, refocus, and center ourselves on what we hope to accomplish. Each new month gives us a fresh opportunity to grow, improve, and build on the progress we’ve already made.
The same is true for us as a school. As we close out September, I will be meeting with our Instructional Leadership Team and Culture & Climate Committee to review our September data, celebrate what is working well, identify areas where we can improve, and establish new goals for October. As Homyak continues to grow, we know that our systems and structures must grow with us. We will continue listening, learning, adjusting, and strengthening our practices to ensure we are providing the best possible experience for our students, staff, and families.
We also have another exciting week ahead! Our PTSA Meeting is Wednesday at 5:35 p.m. This year, we moved our PTSA meetings to a later time to provide more families with an opportunity to attend and be involved. Our last meeting had our largest turnout yet, with more than 15 people attending! We hope to see everyone there again and encourage even more families to join us, especially as we prepare to kick off our upcoming fundraiser. Our Fun Run is also Friday, so please see the information below for additional details.
Lastly, our PTSA-sponsored October fundraiser will officially begin on October 5. Please disregard the fundraiser flyers that were sent home on Friday, as some of the information has been updated. Updated flyers will be sent home this week, so please be on the lookout for those as we prepare to kick off our PTSA-sponsored fundraiser for the year.
Thank you for a great September and for your continued partnership and support. Here’s to a positive October filled with new goals, continued growth, and plenty of Husky pride!
Warmly,
Dr. Cory T. Carter

Standard Response Protocol
As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, we encourage families to review the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) with their students. The SRP provides clear, consistent language and actions for students and staff to follow during different situations, including Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. Familiarity with these procedures helps ensure our entire school community knows what to do and can respond calmly and appropriately during an emergency.

School Lunch Menu
Please note: Beginning the week of October 5, students will begin using their individual PIN numbers when receiving meals in the cafeteria. Please know that students’ first meals will continue to be free; the new system simply helps track the meals served each day. Second meals will cost $1.00. As students get used to the new process, lunch lines may move a little slower, and we appreciate everyone’s patience during the transition.
Our cafeteria staff works hard to follow the posted daily menu and will continue to do their best to serve meals as planned.
Homyak families are always welcome to join their student for lunch! We love having families in our building and encourage you to stop by when you are able. Please see the lunch times below to plan your visit.

2026-2027 School Calendar
Homyak PK-8 follows a PK-8 school calendar, which may differ from calendars used by other schools in the district. To avoid confusion, please use this calendar as your primary reference for important school dates, including the first and last day of school, holidays, professional development days, early release days, parent-teacher conferences, and other key events.
We encourage all families to review the calendar carefully and refer to it throughout the school year when planning appointments, vacations, and other activities. Keeping this calendar handy will help ensure you stay informed and up to date on everything happening at Homyak.
Policy Updates
As we begin the new school year, we ask that all families carefully review the District's updated Dress Code Policy, Student Cell Phone & Personal Technology Device Policy, and Student Transportation Policy. These policies have been revised and contain important information regarding student expectations, the appropriate use of personal electronic devices, and transportation procedures.
