Congratulations to Ms. Annie Ellingham!
Celebrating Ms. Annie Ellingham: 36 Years of Inspiring Students
Anthony Middle School is proud to celebrate and congratulate Ms. Annie Ellingham on an incredible 36-year career serving Minneapolis students!
Annie has dedicated her entire teaching career to middle school social studies, beginning at Franklin Middle School, where she taught for 14 years before joining the Anthony Middle School community. For the past 22 years, Annie has shared her passion for history, learning, and civic engagement with generations of Anthony students.
A proud graduate of Minneapolis West High School, Annie’s commitment to Minneapolis Public Schools extends beyond her classroom. Her own daughters are graduates of Minneapolis South High School, making education and community a true family tradition.
Throughout her career, Annie has been a steady presence for students and colleagues alike—bringing knowledge, kindness, curiosity, and a deep belief in the potential of young people. Her impact can be seen in the countless students she has taught, encouraged, and inspired.
Please join us in celebrating Ms. Annie Ellingham and thanking her for 36 years of dedication, service, and care for Minneapolis students. We are grateful for the lasting legacy she has created at Anthony Middle School and beyond.
Need a different bus for next year?
Transportation has been contacting guardians to ensure your student has a bus next year. Here is the link to the survey they are sending out - Transportation Survey SY2026-27.
If you like what you have for transportation, you do not need to make changes. If you need a change, you can submit until July 31, 2026 using: My Ride K-12 - Minneapolis Public School District
Choir News
Hello Panther Families!
Thank you for a wonderful family day! Anthony Choirs enjoyed performing for all who attended.
It has been a wonderful year of music making. Some highlights of this year include our "Fall Turns to Winter" concert in December, Minneapolis All District Choir and Southwest Bridging Day in the winter, and a wonderful production of Matilda, as well as our "Songs of Hope" concert in the spring.
Thank you for another wonderful year of choir at Anthony; I hope everyone has a restful summer!

MN Studies and World Studies News
"How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"- Dr. Seus
Spring break seems like a lifetime ago but also like it was yesterday. In MN studies, 6th graders are working on their final projects. They are using their source analysis skills by using the E.S.C.A.P.E. method to determine if sources are reliable while picking a social justice topic that interests them.
8th grade World Studies has similarly gone by in a whirlwind. Students recently finished their unit on Asia by taking the challenging Asia Quiz. We then briefly focused on Antarctica before moving on to our final unit: Oceania.
I want to congratulate our 8th graders who are moving on to high school and to all of our students for making it through a challenging year. I would also like to shout out our courageous staff for all of your hard work, resilience, and dedication.

Welcome Back Open House - Sep. 3
Please note that it is perfectly okay if you and your child are unable to attend the Open House on September 3.
The first week of school is considered a "transition week." On the first day of school, which is September 8, students will spend the entire day with their Advisory group, learning more about Anthony through a school tour, team-building activities, and opportunities to get to know one another.
Any required forms may be submitted during the first week of school.
Stay tuned for additional information coming in August!

Leaving Early?
Coming Late?If your student is leaving early, fill out the google form or write a note, tell your student to come to the Main Office before school and we will issue a green pass. When it is time for your student to leave, they are allowed to sign themselves out and meet you outside.
Not Feeling Well At School? If your student is coming late, you can drop them at Door 1 and we will buzz them in. They will sign themselves in and we will issue them a pink pass to get into class. A guardian will not need to come into the school to sign the student in. A guardian will need to send a note or fill out the google form to make the absence excused.
If your student is feeling ill during the school day, they should ask to go to the Health Office so they can be evaluated. The nursing staff will communicate with the student's guardians based on the student's needs.
