Students are not permitted to remain in the building unsupervised after school. If a student has practice or an event that begins later in the day, they will need to leave the building and return at the appropriate time.

We are working to offer after-school tutoring in the library on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00–5:00 PM. This program has not yet started, but we will notify families as soon as it is ready to begin.

Securly Securly

Have you ever received a Securly on your student and didn't have a clear understanding of what it was? This information will help keep you informed.

Securly is a cloud-based company that Ann Arbor Public Schools partners with to provide an additional layer of protection, keeping our students safe. Securly monitors student activity on school-issued devices and email addresses. We are alerted when students search for potentially harmful topics or engage in concerning conversations. Topics that trigger Securly's include thoughts of suicide, depression, self-harm, alcohol/drug use, violence, etc.

When content is flagged, school administrators receive an alert, and then parents are contacted. Securly's are logged in PowerSchool, and your student's counselor is informed to keep them informed as well. In some cases, we can provide outside resources for those who may need them.

Please discuss the importance of students not searching for topics as a joke. Students who intentionally trigger Securly's will receive a log entry in PowerSchool and could potentially face disciplinary consequences. If you have any questions about Securly, please don't hesitate to contact your student's administrator.

Greetings Families & Students!

There is absolutely no parking in our bus loop nor the pick up loop. Vehicles parked will be ticketed and license plate recorded. We will tow vehicles parked in either of the loops. During football games on Friday night the pick up loop will be blocked for the safety of our marching band, athletes, students, and spectators walking back and forth.

AAPS authorization form for private transportation is linked below. Please follow these important instructions in order for you to drive your student home following a competition when school transportation is provided:

  1. The coach ultimately determines if players are allowed to travel separately from the team.
  2. Players can only ride with their parent/guardian
  3. The form needs to be completed ahead of time and communicated in advance with the coach
  4. Do not email private transportation forms directly to the AD
  5. Private Vehicle Authorization

Please familiarize yourself with our athletic and event policies:

  • Skyline Academic Eligibility
  • High School Spectator Expectations
  • MHSAA Guidelines for spectators and teams

  • Middle School Student Expectations

  • All students will need their school id to get into home athletic events for free!

Please follow Arbiter for the most up to date game schedules:

  • Skyline Game Schedule, Arbiter

ATHLETE ATTENDANCE

Athletes are required to be in school a minimum of 3 class periods in order to participate in practice or competition each day. All coaches will be receiving an ineligible list of players daily. It is our expectation that coaches check this daily and exclude those players from practice or competition.

Any student new to Skyline and is in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade must complete the New Student Form and be approved by the athletic director before participating in any sport!

Sincerely,

Delsie Sissoko

Athletic Director

Assistant Principal

High School Student Tech Announcement

August 29, 2025

From the AAPS ITD Help Desk

Welcome back high school students! It was great to meet you all during the laptop deployment events that were held all over the district in August!

The AAPS Tech Team will be sending out periodic communications to remind you about keeping your device safe from damage, how to use or access district tech services, how to use some native apps on your laptop, how to perform device updates, etc. It is extremely important to read through these email communications when you receive them since timely information will be shared with you.

How to Get Tech Support

As you get settled into using your new MacBook Air laptop, there will be instances that you are in need of tech support. Listed below are three different pathways throughout a school day to get help.

8:00AM-10:00AM

Monday-Friday

There is daily live ITD Tech Support at Huron, Pioneer and Skyline in the Media Center. Look for the Building Tech to support your urgent tech needs during this time window. For Community and Pathways, please check in at the Media Center for tech support hours, they will vary.

7:30AM-4:00PM

Monday-Friday

There is live Help Desk Support on the Student & Family Help Desk (734-997-1222). Please note that call volume will be really high in the morning at the start of the school year, so it’s best to call this number after 10:30AM during the months of August and September. A staff member can help place this call if needed.

Incident IQ Help Ticketing System

Anytime

Submit a technology help ticket through our Incident IQ system (IIQ). Remember, when you picked up your laptop, you had to use the IIQ system to agree to your Technology AUP. To learn more about how to use Incident IQ, check out the “How to Submit an IncidentIQ Ticket”

Additionally, just a friendly reminder that at the present time, the only software that will be added to a high school student district-issued laptop is district-approved or teacher-requested. This is to ensure your new devices are operating as intended and have a technical baseline for troubleshooting purposes. In October, there will be a pathway for students to submit software requests.

AAPS Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

When you picked up your new laptop, you had to review and sign a Technology Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). The Technology AUP is created to establish clear guidelines for internet and device usage, protect students and the school’s digital assets, prevent misuse, ensure Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) compliance, and help students develop stronger digital citizenship and online safety.

High School and Staff Acceptable Use Policy

Please note that there are consequences when there is inappropriate use of AAPS technology equipment or services. Violations of the AAPS Tech AUP may result in restrictions, suspension, or revocation of electronic use privileges. Additionally, the AAPS Tech Team maintains a Cybersecurity Incident Response Plan that when enacted for specific cyber incident types, involves reaching out to a larger incident response team that can include local law enforcement, Michigan Cyber Command Center and the FBI. Cybersecurity is taken very seriously within AAPS, please use your district-issued technology and technical services for educational purposes and do not attempt to break into or hack any district technology, systems or services.

Caring for Your MacBook Air

Macbook laptops are important tools for learning. Taking proper care of your laptop ensures that it stays in good condition for a long time. Please review the Caring for MacBook Air How-To Guide, here are a few important items to consider:

  • Always carry your device in a secure way

  • Keep food and drinks away from your device to avoid spills or water damage

  • Do not place heavy objects on top of your device

  • Clean the screen with a soft, lint-free cloth; do not use harsh chemicals on the screen

  • Charge your device overnight so it’s ready for use the next day

  • Only use the provided charger to prevent damage to the battery

  • Store your device in a safe, dry place when not in use

  • Avoid placing your device at the edge of a table or desk, on the floor and/or by food or liquids (including your backpack, your water bottle should be carried and not stored next to your device)

  • Report any device issues to the AAPS Tech Team by calling the Student & Family Help Desk (734-997-1222) or submitting an Incident IQ helpdesk ticket.

Mac Application Spotlight: Notes App

Have you checked out the Notes App on your MacBook Air laptop yet? With the Notes App, you can create and organize text-based notes, checklists, tables, web links and even add attachments like photos and PDFs. Additionally, you can record and transcribe audio in the Notes App. Just remember, you should always ask for permission before recording a peer or teacher, that is a common digital courtesy.

Delivered to you by your AAPS Tech Department.

AAPS Food Service 2025-26 School Year- Action Needed for All Families AAPS Food Service 2025-26 School Year- Action Needed for All Families

All students will again receive a free breakfast or lunch meal for this school year.

All individual food items ( not taken as part of the full meal offered) , such as milk only, are not free to students. Students must pay for these individual items via the Meal Magic payment system.

Even though the State of Michigan continues to provide free breakfast and lunch meals for all students, it is important that every AAPS family fills out the Education Benefit Form (EBF), regardless of financial status. Filling out the EBF form helps AAPS maintain our current funding levels. We appreciate your assistance in filling out the EBF form.

Without this information from every family, AAPS could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to. These supplemental grants and programs have the potential to offer supports and services for our students including, but not limited to:

✓ Instructional staff (ex. Reading Interventionists, Math, Academic and Behavior Aids)

✓ Counselors, Social Workers and School Nurses

✓ Professional Learning for staff

✓ Technology

What do I need to do?

Please complete the EBF form. You may fill out a paper form or complete the form online.

Important Notes:

✓ Include ALL students on one form, even if they attend different AAPS schools.

✓ If you completed the form online, do not fill out a paper copy. Contact Food Service to verify submission.

✓ For translations: visit a2schools.org → Departments → Food Service → Education Benefit Forms for All Families.

How do I submit my form? Choose one of the following methods:

1. Online: visit https://annarbor.familyportal.cloud, then click “Apply for Benefits”

  • Here is a resource to assist you with filling out the form.

2. In person: Return completed form to your student’s school.

3. By Mail:
