Teachers return on Monday! We can't wait to have them back and begin another great year of serving this community.

We look forward to the chance to meet Kindergartners and new families on Tuesday evening and hope to see all students on Thursday evening next week!

Please continue to take steps in preparing for school opening. We are up to 92 responses to the Transportation Survey. Please do be sure to complete that form. We want to avoid any uncertainty on August 28th.

If your child is a car-rider, you will have opportunities to register as a car-rider and pickup your tags during the following times:

• Tuesday, 8/22 from 8:30 - 11:00 in the Main Office
• Wednesday 8/23 from 12:00 - 3:00 in the Main Office
• Thursday 8/24 during Sneak-A-Peek

For bus riders, the Office of Transportation has directed us to expect assignments on Monday. We will share that information as soon as we receive.

Please be sure to reference and read the full Welcome Back letter attached to the newsletter. There are some important updates with school meals and reminders to make for a smooth entry to the school year.

One of the most amazing things at Lutherville Lab is the level of dedication from our families. And joining the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a simple way to engage in supporting our community as well as to receive support throughout the year. Membership is $15 per individual. Please take a moment to (re)join by clicking here. Attached is a paper form if you prefer. More information will be discussed at Back-to-School Night on Sept 12.

Contribute to "Stock the Lounge" and Supplies Drive

Please help us in two efforts going into the school year:

1) stocking the teachers lounge

2) creating more equity across the classes to ensure those who may receive less donations of supplies such as tissues, wipes and dry erase markers have what they need.

Exciting offer: Anyone who signs up for 3 or more slots will receive $10 "Spirit Bucks" to be used at the Lutherville Lab Online Spirit Wear Shop. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Please join us to write encouraging and uplifting messages for the teachers on the sidewalk in the front of the school.

Tues Aug 22 from 4-6 pm - "Popsicles at the Playground"

Families of kindergarteners and students new to Lutherville Lab this year are encouraged to drop in with their child(ren) to meet other families and students, say hello to the kindergarten teachers, tour the building and have questions answered before the school year officially kicks off.

Calendar Focused on Early Dismissals and Days Off

Here you will find a calendar made by parent Lindsay Winn (thanks, Lindsay!). This may be helpful in keeping track of which days the kids will be off from school. A magnet from school will also be distributed soon.

• receive tours of the building,
• have questions answered and enjoy a little refreshment!

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and our School Counselor, Mrs. Ilene Kiewe, invite students who are new to Lutherville Lab this year and entering grades 1st-5th plus their families to meet one another, learn key information about Lutherville Lab and ask questions as the school year gets underway.

Families may choose between two sessions which will both be held in the library.

-Tues Sept 5th from 5:30-6:00 pm

- Tues Sept 12th from 4:45-5:15 pm (just before Back-to-School Night which begins at 5:30 pm)

Class assignments, which are a product of a multi-layered and collaborative process from teachers and administrators balancing many factors, may be accessed through the BCPS Parent Focus Portal or the new "Team BCPS - Focus" smartphone app, which is available for both Apple and Android smartphones.

Upon log-in you may be prompted with questions to confirm preferences and information. Once you navigate those, you'll reach options that look like the below.

We understand that there have been technical difficulties with FOCUS today and a message from the school system notes that they have been in contact with the vendor to resolve.
