This month's classroom lessons will focus on problem solving and Start with Hello Week!

In kindergarten and first grade we will learn about how to say the problem with adult support.

In second and third grade we will focus on how to state a problem without blame in a given scenario and learning the STEP problem solving method.

In fourth and fifth grade we will learn the STEP problem solving process and how to apply it to our own lives.

This year we will be using the Counseling Program-Second Step. We will be focusing on developing and nurturing in our students 5 major Skills: Listening, Empathy, Emotional Management, Friendship and Problem Solving. Second Step will be a great tool to use with our students as we navigate through this school year.

Start with Hello is a program to promote the inclusion of all students. In your child's guidance lessons this month, we will talk about ways to include everyone. The week of September 16th-20th, we will celebrate Start with Hello Week! Each day during your child's morning meeting, they will have an activity to promote inclusion.

THEME DAYS:

Monday - Wear Green to "Kick off Start with Hello Week".

Tuesday - Wear red/pink for Compassion and Care

Wednesday - Wear Orange to Stand United Against Bullying

Thursday - Wear clothing with words to signify "Start Talking!"

Friday - Wear SCS/Kinsner Gear for "We are a Family Day"
